How to Earn What You Deserve with Freelance Writing

Oh boy, have I had to work at this! A little bit about myself, I've been freelance writing for over 5 years. I've written for several online outlets, magazines, companies, and also individual clients.
Honestly, it's been a slow progression getting paid what I deserve, and it hasn't been without a few charitable givings!
But, there was a turning point! I know for many of us freelancers, when we're starting our business we tend to be self-conscious on what we should charge and what we deserve to get paid. This is especially true for those who are jumping in head first with no feelers or work experience.
For me, at first, I would take any kind of work that paid, and looked at it as "learning experience."
This was a mistake!
I had talent, I was getting more, and more clients, but my own perceived value was way, way too low.
So what did I do?
I stopped taking low-paying jobs first and foremost, and started working on my cover letters, resume, and came up with a powerful portfolio that showcased all the different writing abilities I had - ranging from copywriting, SEO, content writing, blogging, etc.
Once I perfected that, and started applying to better jobs, I started to get higher paying gigs!
It's essential to have an outstanding resume, cover letter, and letter (or email) of introduction. Consider it your most important writing sample! This is what employers, and clients see first so you need to make a stellar impression .One small mistake or typo can mean a one-way ticket to the email trash bin.
I hope that helps anyone who's in the initial throws of freelance writing! I'm here to help anyone who needs any advice on how to make freelance writing work for you!
To your success!
