Why Does Video Marketing Work So Well?

In this article I am going to teach you why video marketing is such a powerful way to attract new customers.
Video when compared to the written word is a much better medium when trying to attract a new customer. It helps you connect and build trust quicker and easier than any other form of communication.
I am specifically talking about face time videos, where you are recording yourself. You are appearing in the video. This does work to an extent with other types of video, like screen capture, interviews, webinars etc. But it does not have the same effect. Don't get me wrong any type of video works better than the written word when building a relationship with your customer. But actually appearing in the video and being the star of the show really does outperform every other type.
I like to call this the Television effect. Everyone has a favourite series that they enjoy watching on a regular basis. Let's take Friends the very popular almost cult like series as an example. I imagine most people can remember the series and if not you really do need to check it out. It was and still is hilarious.
Joey is the funny, loveable slightly slow friend. Who could attract woman at the drop of a hat. The slightly less cool but quicker witted friend was of course Chandler.
My point here is that you get to know the characters. If you were to meet these actors you would feel like you knew them. They build their character right in front of your eyes every week. They build a rapport and a relationship with you. That's why television series work so well. You can't wait to catch up with your favourite character. Of course you don't know the real person; you know the character that the actor is portraying.
Video marketing works so well for this reason.
You can connect with your target market.
The very fact that your customer can see you helps them connect with you. Just like watching your favourite television series. You can use the medium of video to build a relationship with your prospects.
It's a lot more difficult using the written word to build a relationship. It's not impossible, but it's just easier to get to know someone when you can see them.
You can see their mannerisms, their body language and the whites of their eyes. How do they dress? How do they act? It all helps to build an impression of whether you like that person or not.
Now this can work against you as well.
A person can take an instant dislike to you as well as more positive feelings.
If you want to take this to the next level then you can really relate to your target market, by being more like them.
Dress like your target market. If your ideal customer is a mid-level executive put a suit on. If it's a stay at home dad, put some toys around you and dress more casually. Resonate with your ideal customer. Learn what language they use. Where do they hang out? What do they enjoy doing for fun?
Video really is the best way to build a list of people who connect with you and have already started to trust you.
Try it out for yourself.
