Search engine optimization is a necessary marketing strategy for any online business that wants to reach the top. Nearly 80% of all website traffic arrives through the use of a search engine. If you want your website to receive an influx of new traffic, then you need to create an SEO strategy that takes advantage of what people like to read and what the search engines like to rank. SEO is not difficult and the tips below can make your job even easier.

1. Good Content
If you’ve spent any amount of time researching an online SEO strategy, then you have probably heard that content is king. This is absolutely true and is the essential first step towards organizing a successful SEO strategy. Content is very important if you are trying to improve your natural ranking on search engines like Google. Google continues to enhance algorithms that search for new and unique quality. It’s not only the people who are searching to read new content, but the search engines as well. High-quality content isn’t just about proper grammar, spelling, and keyword placements. Quality content is about providing SEO-enriched content that serves a purpose to your readers. You should help provide as much information as possible.

2. Good Keywords
Of course, even high quality content will get you nowhere in an SEO strategy without including the “SEO” part. The largest obstacle in search engine optimization is finding the right trending keywords that are relevant to your content. This stage takes a lot of research because one wrong move could cause a lot of wasted time, effort, and money. There is no “magic” keyword out there that is going to bring you a million page views over night. You can actually use Google to search existing keywords and review the competition. If you find a trending keyword that has little business, it might be your time to shine. Your keyword density should remain around 3-to-4 times per any given page. Keywords also go in Meta Titles, tags, and descriptions. SEO spreads beyond the read content and into the very source code of your page.

3. Good Website Design
You might not think that website design and search engine optimization are related, but they are. Your website design is going to determine how new visitors act when they do land on your page. If your site is poorly designed, then no SEO strategy could possibly help it survive and thrive. Be careful during every aspect of web design and don’t be afraid to spend a little money on some professional help. Keep the design as simple as possible and don’t overload visitors with too much information on any given page. On that same note, proper organization and naming of your sub-domains is a crucial part of the process. Not only people, but search engines as well, prefer well-organized sub-domains where different pages cover different topics. Always have an easy-to-understand navigation system that allows visitors to move around your website with ease.

4. Good HTML
Emphasize important keywords or keyphrases near the beginning of your pages. Use specialized text or highlighting to make them stand out a few times. Heading tags also help the search engines like Google move through your content quickly and efficiently. Search engines use this technique to verify that your website is relevant in regards to a specific keyword. As you can clearly see, an SEO strategy also involves the HTML coding for any page. Especially h tags and Meta Tags. These are both extremely important for the sake of the search engine. It also helps keep content organized and easy to navigate.
