Tips For Picking Your Web Domain Name
It is the skill of the Internet Marketer that determines their success, not the name of their domain, but it makes marketing a whole lot easier if you do the job well when picking your web domain name. I’ll give you a few tips on that topic today.
So much about marketing online is a learning process. Even when you think you know what you need to know, things change and you find yourself once again slipping down that slippery slope we all like to call the “Learning Curve.”
I have written about this in my Home Business blog where I include a few bits of info about my early experiences with choosing my web domain name. You can read my blog post, Choosing a Domain Name That is Right for You, for those details.
Here in my Warrior Forum blog I will just get to the good stuff, the name-picking tips. Here they are:
1) Know Your Niche: This is more important than you may think. Take some time to clearly define your niche and your targeted prospects. The domain name you choose will be influenced by your niche focus, so be very clear on what it is.
2) Keyword Research: Once you know your niche, use a keyword research tool and work up a list of potential domain names suitable for the purpose. Select keywords that your prospects will use when searching for the products and services you plan to sell.
3) Your Short List of Names: Narrow your keyword list down to just a few top choices that sound good, look good and feel good to you. You want possible domain names that will catch the eye of your intended prospects.
4) Select the Best of the Best: Find an online domain name suggestion tool and use it to check if your most desired domain names are available. Choose one that is available.
Once chosen, you will have to register it to make it yours, then sign up with a reputable web hosting company and prepare to launch your new website!
As noted earlier, if you learn your marketing skills well it won’t matter what you call your website because you will be able to market it effectively no matter what. However, it is better for your business in the long run if you get it right before you begin.
Picking your web domain name should be done with the care and attention it deserves. Visit my Home Business website for a variety of related posts that you might find helpful.
