Twitter Marketing Tips

I’ve been thinking about Twitter lately, so thought I’d share a few Twitter marketing tips with you! As usual, this post is version of one on my Home Business Resources website.

We like to call Twitter a “Social Network” or Social Media site. Twitter has their own definition and it goes like this: Twitter says it is a “Real-time information network that connects you to the latest stories, ideas, opinions and news about what you find interesting.”

Whatever we call it, it is a great place to meet and socially network with potential prospects for our products and services. Twitter says they have more than 140 MILLION users and about 340 MILLION tweets every day. I consider that to be awesome market potential!

For this post, I will highlight the value of setting up an effective profile on Twitter. Your profile should be your starting point on every social and membership site you join. After all, aren’t you there to get exposure for your business and to market and promote yourself?

Different sites have different features in their member profiles.

On Twitter, you should add your photo (a photo of YOU, not a cute animal or your cool car, your lunch or a cartoon). Include your personal name or your business name – both, if appropriate. Make certain to add your website URL – that’s what you are there for. Include your location if you think it may be beneficial for branding purposes. And include some brief biographical information, for example, what your business focus is or what your website is all about.

The idea behind Social Marketing on sites like Twitter is to show other members that you are a real person and that you are approachable. You are available. They can talk to you, interact with you.

Setting up your profile is the first step. It’s your chance to make that all important first impression. Take time to do a good job of it.
