Twitter Marketing Tips, Part Two

In my previous post I highlighted the importance of setting up an effective Twitter profile before starting to engage other members of the popular social site. Here, in Twitter Marketing Tips, Part Two, I will focus on the “engaging and interacting” aspect of Social Marketing.



The reason most Internet Marketers take an interest in “getting social” on sites like Twitter is to create more exposure for their business or their website. The object is to build relationships of familiarity and trust, and the purpose for doing this is to develop a following of targeted prospects who may become interested in buying something from you.

The best way to make your presence known on Twitter is to use the service in the manner intended: post, or “tweet”, interesting and informative comments, questions and information that you know will be of interest to your targeted prospects. Do this the right way and you will inspire or encourage other members to post comments in return.

Retweeting interesting comments posted by others is also a great way to gain attention and draw responses and targeted followers, as long as what you tweet and retweet is directly related to your marketing niche.

If you devote some time each day to tweeting, responding to tweets by other members, and retweeting the most relative ones, it won’t be long before you become a familiar face on the site and known as an "expert" in your field.

However, one of the best Twitter marketing tips that I like to offer is to NOT post a whole series of tweets in a short period of time. Members do not like seeing their timeline filled up with a whole page of just your tweets. Space your tweets throughout the day. It is more respectful and more effective for the purpose.

Also, do not follow massive groups of people all at once. It is much better to build your following list gradually, perhaps following 20 or 30 new members each day.

One way to find targeted members to follow is to search on Twitter using hashtags with your keywords and phrases. A hashtag is the “#” symbol and you add that symbol to the beginning of the keyword. Members who use your keyword with a hashtag are probably interested in the same things you are. You can also use hashtags in your tweets to attract the attention of those interested in that topic.

Another thing you can do is use the “@” symbol with another Twitter member’s name to get their attention when you tweet. When you do that, your tweet will appear in a report they can review. If you want to review the report on who is referencing you in this manner, you can click the “@ Connect” button on the top of your screen when you are logged in to your Twitter account.

Being successful as a Social Marketer means interacting with other members in order to attract followers, build relationships and establish trust. The aim is to develop a list of targeted prospects and generate sales of your products and services.
