I almost quit IM - I felt like I was chasing rainbows

That's pretty much it in the title.

I realized that, no matter how much potential an idea had, it would mean a lot of work to make it a reality.

And I noticed that each time I got stoked to make an idea work, I'd inevitably stop the effort because of the time it took.

I also noticed that I wasn't enjoying my life. I never felt like I could relax because I always had that dark cloud of "work to do" hovering over my head. My house was always messy because I needed to spend my time doing my IM work.

A messy house and lack of any down time to relax was getting me very sad. And since "sad" is a place I've been to before, I sat up and took notice. I decided to give myself the gift of not opening my laptop for an entire weekend - it felt great!

I cleaned my house, painted, took another weekend off of an IM work, decorated and tidied the house some more. I felt even better

So maybe it was time to give up on IM for good. There was no way I was giving up this great happiness I had found from having time to care for my home and myself.

Note: I never mention that I now had time for my kids because I always made time for them before. I did my IM work when they were with their dad. That's why I had no time for myself... my "me" time was IM work time. Doing this for years and year had turned out to be a bad idea.
