Many people who have tried my Internet Marketing Mindset Optimizer program have had this epiphany...

Try this the next time you venture outside: find something narrow, similar to a balance beam, and try walking along it for a few steps. Don’t tell me you can’t find anything; little kids do this all the time. It’s still pretty easy, right? Now imagine that same beam way up at the top of a tall building, crossing the street to another building. Is that scarier? But why? There’s no greater chance of falling than when its on the ground, and you negotiated that just fine.

The difference is “learned helplessness.” That’s a behavior psychologists have identified, where even if you know that you can do something just fine, your brain is screaming “Look out! You’re gonna FAAAAAIL!” And it screams so loud that your steps get shaky and the next thing you know, you’re a modern-art design on the street.
LEARNED HELPLESSNESS – After having failed one or more times, you are less likely to try it again.
The key is to keep up your confidence by forging ahead; do whatever you have to do to look positively – and open-mindedly – at the situation. Think of your past failures as challenges, and instead of saying things like “Why is this happening to me?” (I’m a helpless victim), say “What can I do to improve this?” (I am master of my domain and I will solve this too).

See, failure is not a prerequisite to success. It’s optional. You shouldn’t expect failure first. You should instead barge ahead as if you were twenty feet tall and made of dynamite, as if it were impossible to fail. Napoleon Hill said, “Burn your bridges behind you.” Think about inevitability thinking. Make it inevitable for you to succeed.

Napoleon Hill also said, “Every adversity, every failure, every heartache carries with it the seed of an equal or greater benefit.” Yes, even a sinking Titanic or a crashing Hindenburg isn’t a reason to just give up and go hang yourself. So your latest website didn’t go viral enough to attract 10,000 unique visitors – are you going to let a little thing like that stop you? If you were, you wouldn’t have had enough gumption to read this far!

Now, you might say to yourself, “What if keeping a good attitude isn’t a guaranteed formula for success?” You’re right. It sure would be a shame to be enthusiastic about your work, be cheerful in your attitude, and positive about your outcomes for nothing, wouldn’t it?
