1. You don't believe you can succeed. For many people the income level that most Internet Marketers talk about is so far beyond anything your familiar or comfortable with that you can't even grasp it. For most people, the largest thing they will ever buy is a $150,000 home. There are internet marketers telling you they can make that much in a month. Sure seem hard for the average person to believe doesn't it? You need to have a dramatic shift in thinking to make it in business. The subject of mentally preparing yourself for success is discussed over and over on this forum and in many places online. If your still stuck at this one, it's time to review what is holding you back and what you need to do to change that. You may want to take a look at material related to the Movie called The Secret. I have not seen it, but am familiar with the concepts behind it. The only thing you again have to be cautious of is that you don't get stuck in learning mode. You need to make that shift to action mode.

2. Your afraid of making a mistake - so you hold back. You may be afraid of embarrassing yourself or of losing some money. Here is the deal, your going to make mistakes and your going to lose some money. It is part of the learning process, the sooner you accept this, the sooner you can move on.

3. You wait for just the right time to start. Many people are waiting for just the right time to start a online business. They are waiting until they have more free time, or until they can quit their job. Most of these people will continue to wait forever for the conditions to be right. You need to make the decision that your done waiting and your ready to be "doing".

4. It is hard work, and if you don't accept that, your not going to make it. There may be an exception here or there. A jackpot of a deal, that you land in at just the right time, that gives you a big low-effort payday. But without the hard work that is all it is, and all it will ever be, a jackpot. It just isn't sustainable. If your one of the lucky ones and you invented something crazy that made you rich overnight, that is great, but it is not the way it works for most people. My opinion, If you want to gamble, go to the casino. If your serious about making it online, you need to understand that your going to have to put in some hard work. The only people that get rich overnight are those that have won the lottery or the online equivalent. If you want to beat the odds, then forget about waiting for the magic moment, and accept that you need to put in hard work to get where you want to be.

5. You lose your commitment. In the beginning, there are going to be setbacks, your going to lose a few bucks, your going to want to give up. I would speculate that the vast majority of people that try to market something online lose their commitment within 60 days of starting. It's easy to lose your commitment once you realize how much hard work is required for success. You need to be prepared for these feelings and have a plan for dealing with them. Make sure that you know that you are committed to succeeding and you have given yourself reasonable resources to accomplish that success. These resources include; Money, Time, and Information.

Finding a experienced mentor can be difficult, but if you do, it will help you in many ways. A mentor that is already successful in the field, will be able to help you set aside your fears. They already know what works and what doesn't. If you have the privilege of working with someone like this, take full advantage of that knowledge they are offering to share, it is invaluable.

For those of you that don't have a mentor, keep your eyes open, you never know when you can form a new relationship. Take a extra moment to help someone out, especially if you know the person could help you in your business later on. Don't be too quick to jump in and ask for something in return, you need to build relationships.

Without a mentor, I see 2 ways to approach learning. The first is to just take the time to read books, read web sites, and talk in online forums until you learn enough to get started. The problem with this is that many people get stuck in this learning mode and never switch over to action mode.

The other option is to purchase a marketing program by one of the marketing gurus. I have to say that I feel that a large percentage of the programs these Internet Marketing Gurus sell are 50%+ motivational. Don't get me wrong, they have good content as well. The fact is the first thing you need to do is to motivate and inspire someone so they commit. If you don't commit, all the good directions in the world won't help you. So if you have the money, an know what your getting into, purchasing an Internet Marketing program might be right for you.
