Treating your business like a Captain Planet cartoon

More times than not, people tend to try to treat their businesses like a Captain Planet cartoon. I’m not crazy… Hear me out..

What used to happen in the old Captain Planet cartoons? There were some kids that tried to keep the environment clean from pollutants and hazards. Right? In every cartoon when there was a problem and the kids pointed their rings to the sky and said their “earth elements” and here comes Captain Planet to save the day.
The kids NEVER or very rarely tried to fix the issues on their own because they always relied on Captain Planet.
Think about it for a minute… What happens in many people’s businesses today? They run into a wall (like we all do) and instead of busting through that wall, climbing over it, or backing up and finding a way around it, they always go straight for their mentor. Don’t get me wrong.. I believe that everyone needs a mentor but a mentor is not there to fight all of your battles for you.
You will never learn the ins and outs of the business if you do not work through your issues on your own and run to your mentor every single time. You cannot sustain long term success this way. In terms of mentorship, if your mentor fixes every single issue for you, find a new mentor. (Plain and Simple)
