Google AdWords is a platform released by Google, which is a pay-per-click advertising program (PPC). It’s also the main platform that is used for this kind of activity nowadays.
AdWords basically creates a way for companies and other internet entities, to post their websites link along with a short pitch on the search engines results pages.
When promoting your websites, you can use two techniques for getting them ranked on the first page of a search query.
- Using Google AdWords;
- Using search engine optimization (SEO)
Successful websites usually are using both techniques, for getting the best results.
The first step you should follow is signing up for a Google AdWords account. After this is done, you need to pick the right keywords that best describe your field of business. This way, when someone visits Google and performs a search which is associated with your own keywords, your ad will automatically be displayed in the far right column of the search results page. When someone clicks on your advertisement, you generate a predetermined amount for that specific click.
When you’re advertising using SEO, it may take long periods of time until you can get the desired ranking for your website. This is because, SEO is more competitive than Google AdWords because it is free of any costs. But, with the Google AdWords platform you don’t have to concern yourself with those kind of problems because you are paying for the right to advertise.
Google AdWords is using a bidding system to decide which of the ads are shown during a search. This method is used because, there are usually many companies that are using the same keywords and tags. Different users bid a specific price on specific keywords. So, the higher the bid, the more chances for an ad to be displayed on the far right of the search results page.
You can also optimize your campaign by using tools that are provided within Google AdWords. Other online optimizing tools are also available.
The actual Google AdWords account is free. This is very effective, because it’s a really good way to learn about this process. You can also use the Google Keyword tool, to help you find the right keywords to use for your business. After, you can use the Traffic Estimator Tool where you can input your chosen keywords. With this tool you will be able to run simulations and see an estimated ranking of your site.
So is Google AdWords the right tool for you ?
To answer this question, first of all you should be aware that Google AdWords will not bring any income, directly into your account. You will be paying for the ads, which will transfer users to your website. This is the goal of Google AdWords. Getting users to find you, visit and see your website.
After they get redirected to your website, it all depends on the products you’re selling and the quality of your services that you are providing. Keep in mind that if users will get to your website and do not purchase any services there, you will only be spending money on the ads, without earning anything. It’s just like any commercial you’re accustomed to. But, if you run a tight and clean business in a well chosen niche, then you won’t have any problems finding customers, clients or whatever.
TIP : Before you get to work with Google AdWords you should make sure that you already have a well structured and optimized website which generates substantial traffic.
