SEO content sucks.

You know how commercials for food always use fake ingredients to make it look delicious? Like pouring glue on a bowl of cereal because it’s a better shade of white and pours slowly.

Well… reading your SEO content is like eating a bowl of Lucky Charms covered in Elmer’s glue.

It’s unpleasant.

Even search engine spiders will spit out your jumble of words surrounding “target search phrases” because they’re nasty.

So why bother with SEO content? What you want is Quality Content.

The SEO part comes in later, as a second thought.

Then you’ll have Quality SEO Content which is just plain awesome because it sucks readers in.

If this is what you look for in an SEO content writer…
  • Must speak US English
  • Must pass copyscape
  • Will write for $1 per 100 words
Never mind your content. YOU suck!!!

There are some variations on the previous items, but it doesn’t matter.

It’s not about the slave wages, because there are many SEO writers who will gladly pump out 500 words for the price of one measly gallon of unleaded gasoline.

It’s about the things you obviously don’t give a hairy rats’ buttocks about. Things like:
  • Topic. What can I say that hasn’t already been said a hundred million times by everyone else in the same niche?
  • Research. Do you really think that somebody will actually put any real effort into the facts behind 500 words for the cost of a jar of Nutella?
  • Engagement. Wait a minute. You actually want people to read your article. You want people to enjoy reading your article!
Alright, maybe it is about the measly pocket change you offer. Obviously, you can’t afford to invest in a quality content writer because you’re not making enough money because your SEO content sucks.

So why don’t you write it yourself, and do it right? If you’re not a good writer, don’t worry… neither is anyone who passes your basic 3 point (US English/ plagiarism/ lack of self worth) test.

Here’s how you know you know your content passes the tests that really do matter:
  1. Quality SEO Content has a bounce rate of 0 to 10%.
  2. Quality SEO Content has more Likes, Shares, Tweets, and whatever else people do to spread your brand around without being asked to.
  3. Websites with Quality SEO Content actually do get a higher ranking in search engine results. (Could be the low bounce and social popularity?)
  4. More importantly, Quality SEO Content actually stays in a better position on search engine results.
  5. You don’t have to publish Quality SEO Articles as frequently because it has a much longer shelf life.
  6. Then again, it’s easy to find new Topics because there is always current news and trends surrounding your niche. Quality SEO Content is well researched, but original. Offer something new that has not already been said by one of your “resources”. When you do include information published elsewhere, throw in a link and give credit where it’s due.
  7. Because if you’re really original… other sites will return the favor and link-to-you-too! (That never happens with mediocre content, so when you start getting natural links instead of asking for them… then you know you’re doing something right!)
  8. Quality Content doesn’t even need SEO. Matthew Inman (from The Oatmeal) does not need to optimize for search engines, because he’s popular. He’s popular because his content is awesome.
  9. Writing Quality Content could be impossible if you suck at writing. So put in lots of time, research, energy, and effort into learning the skills that take you from Point A to Point B. In the end (it might take a year or five before you get there) you will have a new found appreciation for the difference that an extra $20-$50/article could have brought.
Disclaimer- No, we’re not saying you should go find an expensive quality content writer. The real solution starts with your perspective on what your content should be doing for you. SEO is only a part of the equation, and the kind of content that sucks will actually keep you down. It’s time to shift your attention to well researched content that is fun to read so you can start establishing a relationship with your traffic. It could lead to more sales!
