1099 Deadline Approaching Quickly...

The 1099 due date is January 31st (Feb 1st this year since 1/31 falls on a Sunday).

If you are self employed or are an independent contractor then instead of a W-2, you may receive a 1099-MISC showing payments you received for services performed.

Alternatively, if you paid someone to perform services for your business, you may need to issue a form 1099 for them. Basically, you must prepare a 1099-MISC if you paid $600 or more to an individual to perform services...

How Will Obama’s Tax Plan Affect Self Employed Americans?

Self employed taxpayers get the honor of paying the self employment tax on top of their regular income tax. This can be quite a burden, especially for new business owners.

New Tax Law Requires eBay and PayPal to Report Transactions to the IRS

Buried deep in the housing act that was just passed is a provision that requires credit card processors - including companies like eBay and PayPal - to report annual gross receipts of it’s merchants to the IRS.

Credit card processors will be required to file Form 1099 for each merchant that has at least $10,000 in gross sales and 200 transactions.

Companies have until 2011 to comply with this new law.
