Many beginning businesses have trouble getting their sites to rank at the top of Google. They might rank at Page Five, but have trouble ranking for Page One. This is bound to cause serious problems for those businesses interested in gathering new customers. The reasons why are obvious. Without being on page one of Google, you lose the ability to gain organic traffic for your business.

In the world of search engine optimization, organic traffic refers to the number of hits a person gains without having to do any ongoing advertising. When you have this type of traffic, you will get new customers for your business with just your main website. You will not have to worry about doing pay-per-click ads, online classifieds or even offline advertising. Google will take care of everything.

Confidence is another reason why you want organic traffic for your business. You will feel better knowing that there is always a steady stream of prospects from only one ad. This confidence will translate into more success for your company. When a CEO feels good about his or herself, their confidence will be noticed by future businessmen. These businessmen could be individuals who have the money to take your company to the next level. Indeed, confidence matters if you want to turn a mom-and-pop business into a Fortune 500 company.

Finally, if your website is listed on Page One of Google, you will have more free time available. Instead of spending your weekends looking for new prospects, you can spend your time relaxing. You could play golf, go swimming or even go on vacation if you like. It truly doesn’t matter, because with high Google rankings, your marketing is placed on autopilot. Best of all, it does not require any extra fees. Once you get your website to rank, it will stay like that forever.

However, be aware that there is a downside to getting a high Google ranking. With your Web content, you may not be able to write creatively. You will have to focus on creating keyword optimized content. This means that your content must include the terms that people are searching for on the Internet. Sometimes these terms may not match what your business advertises. If they don’t, you will have to use advanced SEO writing techniques to get them to match.

For example, if your business talks about dog training, but you come across a keyword discussing “dog insurance” you will need to create a separate article that talks about the latter issue. Humor might be the best approach in such an instance; if a dog is trained properly, he might keep himself out of the type of trouble that would require a vet’s visit. Without the vet’s visit, you don’t have to use dog insurance. Granted, this is an extreme example, but by thinking outside of the box, you will rank for awkward keyword without offending your audience.

In summary, you should try to get your site listed on Page One of Google. If you fail to do so, you will not get the stream of customers your business deserves. This could lead you having to pay thousands, maybe even millions for television advertising. With that said, do things the right way. Optimize your site with prominent Internet keywords, even if they don’t directly match the subject at hand. While the process will require some creativity, once you are finished, you will be happy at the return you end up getting.
