Do you know how it all started?...

1969...The Internet began when the ARPANET was brought online in 1969 under a contract led by the renamed Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPA) which initially connected four major computers at universities in the southwestern US (UCLA, Stanford Research Institute, UCSB, and the University of Utah).

1993... It was 1993 when Marc Andreessen developed the browser Netscape and Bill Gates Introduced Internet Explorer. For the first time average consumers can access the internet and send emails. The www. phenomenon has begun...

1998... The number of Internet subscribers increases 15 fold, from 16,000,000 to 248,000,000, in just 3 years.

2000... The advent of social networks - The precursors to Social Networking are still with us today... Dating Sites, Instant Messenger and World of War Craft are examples of the first Social Networks. The first modern general Social Network, Friendster, was launched in 2002 and quickly grew to over 90,000,000 subscribers.

2008... Social media fuels social networks. As corporations seek new and innovative ways to advertise, their attention quickly turns to the 200,000,000 subscribers of Social Networks.

2009... With Apple’s introduction of the iPhone, the Smartphone industry was born. With the development and distribution of Google’s Android operating system, Global Smartphone sales have skyrocketed from 0 – 297,000,000 in only two years.
Projected sales by 2015? 2,500,000,000.

2010... Smart phone sales are climbing fast and apps (mobile applications) are becoming the hottest thing.

Do you notice the trend here? Changes are coming faster and faster, the time between new developments is getting shorter and shorter.

Mobile is hear to stay and growing. It was predicted that by 2013 more people will use their mobile devices to get online than pc's, and I think we're already past that point half- way through 2012.

This is a train you gotta get on because it's only picking up speed. No sales pitch here but if you are looking for a place to get started check out www.FreeQRcodes.mobi. Don't know what a QR code is? See the site - it explains how they work, what they do, and why you need them. And, just like the name says, you can get free QR codes there. Check it out.

Til next time.
