The Fastest Way To Create A Product <- FREE Video
Hello everybody my name is of course Nathan Bumstead! I sincerely welcome you here today. I talk about No BS Internet Marketing tactics, strategies, and tips.
Today we are talking about the fastest way to create your own information products. But before we go into that let’s answer the bigger question here, why are Information Products so attractive as things to sell on the Internet? Well one thing is that the price gap between what it costs to produce them and what you can sell your intellectual knowledge for is big. Conversely, if you create a small machine that solves someone’s problem, it may cost $50 just to get it manufactured and you can sell it for maybe $100… But a DVD training series may cost you $5-$10 to get produced and you can sell it for a lot of money in some niches. A loooooot! There are a lot of courses in some niches out there that sell for over $1,000!
Ok, so now that we are all on the same mode of thought on Information Products – let’s talk about something called the Ascension Ladder. Here is the main concept behind an Ascension Ladder; people will pay more money for the exact same content packaged in different ways. At the lowest end of the ladder is usually the ebook and at the highest end is usually a live seminar or a coaching program. It goes; ebook, audio, video, live seminar, done for you solution. And you know the funny thing, most people start with trying to write the ebook first! That makes no sense to me! First off it takes the longest to get done and on top of that you can make the least amount off of it!
So what do I suggest that you do instead? There is a very easy fix for this. Are you ready for it?
Start with creating a video! Video is so fast compared to writing a book! But here is where the real magic comes in. Pull the mp3’s out of the video and have the video transcribed and use the transcriptions for your ebook!
Did you see what just happened there? You can spend 1 day creating the training video. It takes literally seconds to pull the mp3’s audio files from the videos. Then when you transcribe the audios, you have your ebook. You can have an entire Home Study Course created in a weekend!
This can be done in one of two ways. 1 – get a handheld digital camera and actually record yourself talking. Most digital cameras can record pretty good video so make sure you check yours out before you spend any money on additional gear! Other options are to get something like the Kodak Zi8, it’s a good little, cheap HD device. And truth be told, if you have good lighting, you can use your darn Smartphone! If it’s new within the last 1-2 years it probably has HD recording capabilities. As humans we always try to make this stuff harder than it has to be. I don’t know why, I do the same thing. Don’t over complicate this!
But how can you take this a step further even? How can you make this even easier? If you can, hold a small training seminar in a hotel conference room, or anywhere that has seating and a whiteboard if you need it. You don’t need 100 people to show up. 10 or more is fine. These 10 people could even be your friends and family if you want. Then just record the training and use those videos to pull out the audios and get transcribed to create your Home Study Course. This works because you will have interaction with the other people in the room. If you didn’t explain something well and they ask a question you can answer it right there and capture it on the recording. Chances are if your audience was confused, your customers would have been too!
Now don’t get all scared and think to yourself, “oh that’s not something that I could ever do”. It’s seriously easier than you think. If you think about this too much you will get yourself worked up, scared, and you won’t take action. Don’t over analyze, just do… Make this happen.
Some additional tips you say? Ok, I can do that… When you get the transcriptions back from your outsourcer, go through them and as you read, add in any additional information that you feel would help it make more sense for your customers. Also, you can turn it into a book format if you wish instead of leaving it as transcriptions. But I have found people usually don’t mind reading a “book” that is in conversational format. So I don’t always mess with that. 4 hours of video will turn into a 150 to 200 page book!
Another tip is to not be a perfectionist on the videos! People want raw content. If you deliver your message, most people will not care too much about the quality of the video.
Wrapping this up! You can easily see how starting with the video first, you can have an entire Home Study Course created in a lot less time than it would actually take you to write just an ebook if you started with the ebook! And! And, you can charge more for your intellectual knowledge because you are providing more value in a “package” of videos, audios, and a book…
