Why Corporate Work Sucks - Internet Marketing - HD 1080 <- Free Video

Hey Everyone – Of course I am Nathan Bumstead. Welcome to my blog.

Today we are talking about why the corporate world sucks and why being an entrepreneur is better. Specifically an Internet Marketer

But before we talk about Internet Marketing let’s touch on corporate work real fast. There is this phenomenon going on where people overwork themselves and then they brag about it. What’s going on with that? Have you guys seen this happening too? It’s not an outwardly bragging, but more subtle. So then you find yourself competing against these fools that get paid for 40 hours a week and they work 70 hours a week. Maybe they like ignoring their families, I personally don’t. I have a hot wife and a couple awesome sons I like to spend time with.

See in the corporate world, you don’t get compensated for how hard you work. And that brings me onto my next subject. “Salary”. What a load of crap! Do you know that salary was created in the 1920’s and only 2% of people qualified for it? Seriously, it was only like door to door salesmen and doctors. Now-a-days salary is the norm. But… but the real term for “salary” is “Exempt”! It means Exempt from Fair Labor Standards! So if you are a salaried employee - that means you are exempt from the laws that were set up to protect employees – like not paying you for the hours that you work!

Very rarely does the smartest or the hardest working person make the most money in a company. And by all rights, they should be… But it just doesn’t happen like that very often. It’s mostly about politics. Now I learned to play those games. I have made a ton of money in the corporate world. And I did it way faster than all of the peers my age.

But guess what it did to me? By my late twenties I was drinking 2 pots of coffee a day and I’m pretty sure I had a quarter life crisis. (It’s like a mid-life crisis but when you are younger…) Never mind. Anyways…

Let me ask you this! Do you know when the majority of heart attacks happen? When? It’s Monday morning around 9am… Isn’t that interesting?

So what can you do about it? What other options do you even have?

You can become an entrepreneur… You can create your income by directly affecting other people’s lives. You can earn exactly the amount you are worth – because the marketplace will pay you exactly for the value you are adding.

And that right there is probably the coolest part of working for yourself. There is no ceiling on your pay. OK, let me give you this example. You can say that you earn $25 per hour. If that is how much your company was paying you - you can say that right? But is it true? No, you get paid for the value you put into the hour. If you made $25 per hour you could just sit at home and wait for your check. No, you get paid for the value you put into the hour. Now lots of things can make you more valuable to a company – additional degrees, certifications, a better attitude… And you can certainly increase your pay. But there is always going to be that ceiling that you can’t go past for the line of work that you are in. Heck, I was an engineer and I hit that ceiling before I got out of my twenties!

So a few years ago I started looking at Internet Marketing. The more I learned the more it all made sense to me. And then I heard a guy say this one phrase and it really clicked for me. “Most of the time you can earn a lot more income by teaching what you know how to do, rather than doing what you know how to do…” And that my friends is the beauty of creating information products and selling them on the Internet.

Ok if we think about everything I have said so far, I think we can safely say that to increase your income with Internet Marketing, we need to add the most value that we can correct? There are 2 ways that you can do that. 1) Create better products and 2) Sell more products.

That goes back to what every business has to do right? Increase the quality and quantity of their work in order to increase profits.

Now it’s not all gumdrops and lollipops. Truth be told, I probably work a bit more now than I did when I was in the corporate world… But it feels so much different. It’s hard to describe until you experience it for yourself. I freely choose to work this hard today though, so that I am setting up the future for my family. One of my favorite quotes states “You must be willing to do today what 98% of people aren’t willing to do, in order to live tomorrow the way 98% of people can’t live.”

Back in the corporate world, when I ran into a problem it felt like a pain in my butt and I never really wanted to deal with it. But now, problems are challenges that I get to overcome and grow my business. Overcoming challenges means more success, it means more knowledge in my profession, and it means adding more value to the marketplace once again.

I know this video is a little bit different than the other ones that I have posted, but I feel it was inspired. I really just felt like this is what I should talk about today. Hope you enjoyed it!
