There is tons of free information available how you can build backlinks for your website or blog. Especially with so much different kind of tools in the market, like - Senuke, Article Marketing Robot, Rank Builder, xGenSEO, SEOLinkVine and tons of others. However, in the same time there is so much confusion about what is the right strategy to build backlinks for completely new website, in order not to get penalized by Google.

Therefore, in this post I am going to share my backlink building strategy that works perfectly for me, and I am confident it will work well for you. The 4 phase backlink building strategy that I am going to share with you, works equally good for small niche websites, local business sites, people who are blogging like crazy or some business websites.

If you will apply the strategy I am going to share with you in this post, you will get the first spot in Google (common sense for keyword research applies here) and, most importantly, you will hold that position as long as you wish.

Backlink Building Phase #1 – Get It Indexed via Backlinks

Most people are so impatient to get their site out there that they start to build tons of backlinks via some valueless forum profile links or with a bunch of tools, like Article Marketing Robot or Senuke. Then they run to some ping service and start to pinging like crazy those links.

If you want to get high search rankings, then you need to let Google discover your site via the backlinks that you create. Those are backlinks, which is logical for your site at this point, when you do not have a steady visitor flow.

I know this next sentence will be old like the Internet, but it is extremely relevant and important – Each backlink is like a vote for your site. So, you can have only as much backlinks to your site as you have unique visitors. Think about this sentence for a minute.

So, here is my initial backlink building steps at this stage:
  1. I delete all the ping services from my WP blog,
  2. I submit website to bunch of url submission websites, like - joeant.com, scrubtheweb.com, rateitall.com, venturebeatprofiles.com, lookuppage.com, markosweb.com, sitejabber.com, jyte.com, talkreviews.com, bessed.com, websitejudge.com, crendel.com, syncrat.com and many others,
  3. I search for around 10-20 .edu or .gov relevant blogs where I can build backlinks to my site. For the search I use Traffic Siphon Tool or I add the following search queries in Google:
    • site:.edu inurl:blog "post a comment" -"comments closed" -"you must be logged in" "ADD YOUR KEYWORD",
    • site:.gov inurl:blog "post a comment" -"comments closed" -"you must be logged in" "ADD YOUR KEYWORD",
    • site:.edu "powered by expressionengine" "ADD YOUR KEYWORD",
    • site:.gov "powered by expressionengine" "ADD YOUR KEYWORD",
    • site:.edu “Powered by BlogEngine.NET”site:.edu inurl:blog "post a comment" -"comments closed" -"you must be logged in" "ADD YOUR KEYWORD",
    • site:.gov “Powered by BlogEngine.NET”site:.edu inurl:blog "post a comment" -"comments closed" -"you must be logged in" "ADD YOUR KEYWORD",
    • site:.edu inurl:wp-login.php +blog,
    • site:.gov inurl:wp-login.php +blog,
    • site:.edu "your keyword",
    • site:.gov "your keyword" - "you must be logged in" - "comments are closed",
    • site:.edu "no comments" +blogroll - "posting closed" - "you must be logged in" - "comments are closed",
    • site:.gov "no comments" +blogroll - "posting closed" - "you must be logged in" - "comments are closed".
  4. I do not ping those links at this point.
Important tip here: do not post comments on blogs, where you see tens of spam comments already.

Usually, I do this backlink building phase once the home page content is published and the initial settings of my website are set.

Backlink Building Phase #2 – Foundation Of High SE Rankings

This is a critical phase, as you need to set long term foundation for your website. This is where you build backlinks that will tell Google – this site is important, and it provides valuable information, as people are already voting for it.

Here are the steps I do in order to set foundation:
  1. I create 3 completely unique and never published articles related to my topic. Usually, I use the secondary keywords of my home page as the primary topic for those articles,
  2. I search for relevant forums, which has a blog feature (just like here in Warrior Forum). Here are the codes, which I use for that: KEYWORD "powered by vBulletin" site: /forum blog
KEYWORD "powered by phpbb" site: /forum blog. As a keyword for these search quarries, I use the primary keyword of my website,
  3. I create complete profile, which includes all the details that it requires,
  4. I search the forum for relevant topics, and I post 5-10 responses to those topics,
  5. I publish 1 blog post on that forum blog (usually I use 2 backlins to my site – 1 for the home page, 1 for my visitor sitemap),
  6. Once the forum accepts the signature, I create it with backlink to the forum blog post,
  7. After a couple of days, I create 5 Web 2.0 sites, which publish spin version of the article that I published previously on the forum's blog. I put links from that article to my forum blog,
  8. As the last part of this phase is to create RSS feed from the links and submit it to RSS directories.
So, in this phase, not only I get extremely powerful backlinks to my site, I also create internal backlinks to that article, which of course, increase the power of the links to my site.

Since forums are constantly indexed by search engines, Google will discover my site via extremely powerful links, which makes my website authority in that niche. Once that happens, I put back my ping list, which I removed at the beginning.

Backlink Building Phase #3 – Let’s Play The Ball

Once you have all of your categories published with at least 1 post in each of it (or at least 10-15 pages of content), you can start to explore this link building phase. Usually, it is 2-3 weeks after the second phase.

Important note here – if you do not see at least 25-50 unique visitors per day after the first 2 phases, you need to buy cheap traffic to get it. But, do not buy some traffic, which do not spend any time on your site. Find the traffic, which will spend that time on your site.

Now, it all depends on your site structure, but I usually have something like 5-10 pages, which is the main purpose why I build this site. So, in this phase I am building backlinks to each of the webpage.

Before you start to implement this step, make sure you have at least 2 unique articles for each of the pages you are going to build backlinks too.

Here are the steps I do at this phase:
  1. I create 2 web 2.0 sites for each of my webpages. So, if I have 10 pages on my website, I create 20 web 2.0 sites. Here is the list, which I use: usatoday.com, blogtalkradio.com, yuwie.com, netlog.com, expressionengine.com, openleft.com, bakersfieldvoice.com, boomantribune.com, worldvillage.com, gather.com, websitejudge.com, enjoyincubus.com, bravejournal.com, bigadda.com, myindospace.com, onsugar.com, microbloghost.com, wordpress.com, blogs.abcnews.com, espn.go.com, bleacherreport.com, chi.mp.
  2. I publish original article on each of the sites,
  3. Once again, I use the particular page secondary keywords as the topic of my articles and I create 2 backlinks – 1 to my site particular page, 2 to the forum, where I published my blog post on the second phase. Also, for each web 2.0 site, I use different secondary keyword,
  4. Collect URLs, create RSS feed and submit it to RSS directories,
  5. After a couple of days, I create 5 forum profile links to each of the web 2.0 sites,
  6. Once again, I create RSS feed and submit it to RSS directories.
This is it for the backlink building phase #3. But, that is not it for link building in order to secure the first spot in Google.

Backlink Building Phase #4 – The Power of Automation

If you will follow to the phases above, you will have an extremely powerful mini-net, which will ensure your search engine rankings for life. It depends how big your site is, but you have at least 20 relevant websites that are pointing links to your site.

So, now it is time to use the power of automation. This is the stage when you can start to build backlinks with tools like Article Marketing Robot, Senuke and others.

Here is what I do:

  1. I use Article Marketing Robot to submit articles to different websites. I create backlinks for all my hubs –forum blogs, web 2.0 sites, and I also create links to 20 .edu or .gov websites, where I posted comments,
  2. I use SEOLinkVine to post articles on different blogs,
  3. I syndicate the content in different formats – e-books, PDFs, podcasts and other stuff,
  4. I use private blog network to post articles on high PR blogs,
  5. I create RSS feeds for all those links and submit them to RSS directories.
At this point it is not so important how fast you build your links. If your foundation is good and you balance the links between hubs, then you should see the top Google rankings very soon.

There is no doubt in my mind that if you will apply this strategy for all of your websites, you will reach top search engine rankings for any keyword you choose. And as we all know – top search engine rankings mean more traffic to your site and more cash in the bank.

I hope this link building strategy will be useful for you. Please share your thoughts about my backlink building strategy in the comment section below and post your strategy or recommendations.
