A few tips about blogging

When I'm blogging I often forget to do things like use the fields of my SEO plugin to optimize the various SEO-important components of my post. But one thing I've noticed that if you're posting on an authority site that doesn't always really matter.
It's not clear to me exactly how powerful an authority site is, but I do know that it seems to be fairly simple to get top rankings for numerous competitive keywords or to get top rankings for recent product launches such as ranking for Bloggers Payday review and similar types of keywords.
There's also been quite a bit of talk about the importance of social activity and social buzz when it comes to rankings. I started noticing this (or thinking I noticed it) a couple years ago.
I would make a post and then immediately build some links to it and at the same time send an email about the post to my list. It really did seem (and still does seem) that this product can have a huge influence on getting a post to stick in the rankings.
