I was thinking over the past couple of days on how marketing has changed since I first entered the game. Sometimes you can find a method or work it to produce success on the net, but the terrain in the climate of 2013 is much different with much more of a need to understand the technology to use best practices in marketing. That's right, I said it. The "t" word. That means if you are planning to get on the web, read a ebook, and do a method, you might have some degree of success, but things on the net changes. Life in 2013 means rapid changes in technology.

SEO is a perfect example. In 2004 you had backlinks, produce sites even with the same content, anchor text, and zooma-zoom-zoom their was your website ranking. In 2013 you almost have to show Google that you suck at anchor text(with Penguin), use only unique content, and be very careful where you place links.

To fully commit with being successful as an Internet Marketing Company, you're actually making somewhat of a commitment to becoming a technology company in order to keep up with all the trends with iOS, Android, and of course the search engines. I noticed in reading many post on marketing forums it's more about understanding that technology to produce methods that will make money for a period of time versus get you rich forever and you can move to a topical island and check email once a month.

Now keeping in mind we're talking about internet marketing as a company instead of just learning to make money for a while, the challenge is now learning some about the technology and using that knowledge to leverage methods from this forum to produce maximum instead of minimum results.
