Impact of Google's Anti-Piracy Policy on Indonesian E-Commerce

A massive change has made an impact to the e-commerce companies in Indonesia due to the implementation of Google's regulations to keep counterfeit goods out of ads. This has become a problem as the bureaucracy's efforts to strictly ban piracy in Indonesian market tends to always hit the wall.
Indonesia has become one of the biggest countries in the world that is known for its inability to press down piracy, let alone keep it out fully.
And it allows piracy to grow like mold in rainy season. In a way, piracy even helps Indonesia's economic growth.
Which is why it is hard when Google's regulations are strictly implemented to Indonesian e-commerce where almost 80% of the goods are pirate or reconditioned.
E-commerce companies are required to keep pirate goods away if they want to be able to launch ads on Google. And that leaves these companies with two choices: being able to advertise their website and lose most of its sellers or keep the sellers and stop advertising their website on Google.
This alone is enough to send several Global e-commerce companies down the deadpool and leave incumbents that perhaps have a lot of money and somehow can keep some of the pirate goods without being banned to advertise on Google.
Although, like people say, there are a thousand ways to Rome, some companies choose to keep their pirate goods and take another way around to advertise on other advertising networks.
This might be a better solution to some companies whose target is local consumers as local advertising networks are cheaper and more local oriented.
But despite having to follow Google's rules, some e-commerce companies succeed to meet the positive side rather than the negative. This happens because pirate goods are always a lot cheaper than the original and by selling original goods, the value of transactions are automatically increased and the e-commerce company goes up a class.
Do not forget that by following Google's rules, these companies can advertise their website on Google and gain more visitors/customers, and having gone up a class, surely they will attract more customers who are able and willing to buy only the authentic goods.
Aside from that, regular customers can also adapt to the new regulations and prefer to buy genuine goods. After all, these customers have grown to trust these e-commerce companies and believe that they will bring quality and satisfaction with these regulations.
And perhaps one day, local market can finally be free from piracy as local customers are finally aware of the importance of legal rights and the quality of the original goods.
