Important - Do Not Get Your Account Shut Down:

A few people I know have had their Amazon Associates account shut down because they didn't have an Amazon affiliate disclosure statement.

That's a shame because it's quite easy to do, yet so many people don't do it.

One person I spoke to was sure she had her account shut down because she cloaked her links with a shortening service (like bit.ly) but she was wrong.

I have spoken to someone from the Amazon Associates program and it's totally ok to shorten links, as long as it's clear to the reader that the link goes to Amazon.

What is NOT ok is to have a site without a disclaimer.

The disclaimer (or disclosure) says that you are an affiliate of Amazon and that you will get compensated when someone buys through your link.

It's amazing how many times marketing programs for beginners completely miss out on this, which causes people to lose their accounts.

So now you have it. This is not optional - it is required!

Amazon HAS to enforce this rule, because if they don't - the FTC will go after them. And they don't want that to happen.
