I often get asked by people where to host their WordPress or PHP website. There are lots of companies and even more fake hosting reviews online :-( and it's hard to choose which one to use.

So let me get straight to the bottom line.

Whether you are an individual or a small business, I recommend:

Hostgator:

Hostgator is cheap and easy to use. A lot of people don't like them because their customer service that used to be stellar is now not that great. But if you have a simple blog, you should be ok.

D9:

This company is owned by internet marketers so they know our needs, which is great! Their customer service is outstanding...

One nice thing is that you can get a reseller account if you want and allow others to use your site for a fee.

Both are easy to use. Both will host your domain for free (domain hosting).

Both use Linux and Apache, but with Hostgator you can request Windows IIS (ignore this if you don't understand it!)

You can use software like Filezilla (you can get this for free) to transfer your files, or request SSH access (if you are more technically inclined)

I have used a number of other hosting companies but I don't recommend them. I've stuck with the above two because they were the best.
