At first I though...great... Google is now competing with Starbucks by starting an online coffee delivery service.

This week Google officially released "Caffeine"...a new Google algorithm that's faster and better.

Don't worry. For those of you using Search Engine Optimization (SEO) to promote your site, Caffeine should not affect your results much.

The reality is that while while Goggle Caffeine was only launched a few days ago it has probably been percolating new web results for months already.

I don't expect to see much of a change to search engine results immediately. However, it does mean that Google is raising the bar for quality and some of your "SEO Tricks" might no longer work so well. With the Google Caffeine release they are even more determined to provide quality results for searchers.

So I recommend you invest more in improving your Google Quality Score if you don't want your rankings to be affected. This will affect Google AdWord results the most, but what I have seen is that some level of "rules" from the Pay-Per-Click side are carried over to Organic results.

Unlike the previous algorithm changes, the new Google Caffeine will be constantly updating the index while analyzing the web in "small chunks" on a daily basis adding 100,000 GB of quality content per day.

Amazingly, Google Caffeine will be adding every single day about 8 years of content that an average U.S. online user consumes every day.

This is based on the average U.S. online user consuming 34GB per day as the NY Times
has reported.

No wonder so many of us need coffee in the morning!
