Keyword research takes some time to be accomplished using either paid or free tools online.
Here are some guidelines to help you work on your keyword research efficiently.
Step 1. Head over to Google Keyword Tool. The tool will return you many different sets of results depending on the settings you choose. Some people opt for the “exact match” and filter the columns to show only Global Count, Local Count and CPC. From there, you can weed out non-runners. Single term keywords will be very hard to rank. You may want to aim for no less than 1000 exact matches per month for your chosen keywords.
Step 2. Use a browser plugin or extension to investigate many important SEO parameters. Look for Page Rank, Backlinks to Page, Domain Age to find out how optimized the site is for the given search term.
