Procrastination is often described as the art of putting off until tomorrow that which should be done today.

It affects us all at times.

And sometimes it's actually better to procrastinate rather than make a snap decision.

But often, especially in situations like internet marketing where you're your own boss, procrastination just gets in the way.

So how can you overcome your seemingly built in inclination to not do the stuff that you know you really should be doing?

One trick I often use is to start something immediately.

I don't give myself time to procrastinate about it.

This sometimes comes across as being efficient but I know deep down that it's nothing of the sort. I know if I don't do whatever it is now, this instant, then it won't happen at all.

So try that trick.

As soon as you decide you're going to do something with your internet marketing "when you get the time", decide that there's no time like the present. And, yes, I know that sounds corny but it works.

If the task is longer than the time you've actually got available - not just the time that you could easily make available - then split it into several parts. Then do one of those parts now, another tomorrow and so on until you've got it complete.

Going public with your intention is another excellent way to overcome your internet marketing procrastination.

That could be as simple as a post on Facebook - so long as you don't use that as an excuse to browse Facebook instead of doing the work on your business that you know should happen.

Or it could be announcing it out loud to people you know.

Now you know and I know that they probably won't ever pick you up on the commitment and ask you how it's progressing.

But the subconscious part of your mind - the bit that's really in control - doesn't know that.

It thinks that because you've gone public with the idea then you must really want to do it.

Then it move in line with your hopes and dreams and helps you get them done.

And if part of the reason for your procrastination is being a perfectionist, read this post on my site.
