Many marketers have seen the tremendous value of using multi-media in the their online promotions.
There are of course lots of ways to use multi-media and music.
The include ebooks, podcasts, audio greetings on your web site, promo videos (for example youtube), demo videos, and many others.
One thing that many don't understand about music (and some other creative works) is that when you pay for music, you receive a license to use it. You don't actually own the song.
Ownership of the music remains with the owner of the master recording.
It's for this reason that it's no legal use of music to grab your favorite CD and use it for the background track on your youtube video. Sorry to break the news ... but you don't own the song. (You own the physical CD it's stored on.)
Be sure in all music that you use online, it's free of royalties, and that the license you have, gives you legal use of the background music tracks.
