I read that many marketers including myself, miss the boat on keywords. This happens because we keep our marketers' hats on instead of putting ourselves in our customers' shoes.

Think of the last time that you wanted to find some information by typing a question or phase in Google. You didn't type a broad term such as "lose weight." You wanted something more specific, so you typed a phrase or question regarding a SPECIFIC issue, such as how to lose belly fat.

Reading this reminded me of all the times that I just seemed to disregard information that customers/clients wanted by typing in really broad keywords and trying to force them into a product that nobody wanted.

I'm wiser this time. I write the broad keyword down, look at it from a customer's point of view and say something like, "What can I do about the tight feeling in my chest?"
