There is something seductive about information. It is much easier to read than to act. I think the allure is due to the fact that we want the perfect picture or plan before doing any implementation. But, it is really action that helps us improve, refine and gain wisdom.
I have always liked the advice from Sean Mize and his emphasis on action. He is the top published author at ezinearticles so has refined the process quite well of effective article writing. I already do a lot with article marketing and ezinearticles but was a bit lazy building lists for various niches I have. However, I do think article marketing is not as effective as it was due to their hit from google in panda and penguin.
Last week, in a health niche I've had a blog on for a while, I decided to add a list. I didn't follow his advice on creating a squeeze page, as I already get a few hundred visitors a day to the blog, so I just added it to the sidebar. I will have to split test this to see how a squeeze page compares to having an opt-in within a blog.
I used some of the relationship building questions he suggested in one of my e-mails and had a back and forth with a customer. I didn't try to sell anything as I am finishing up the ebook. She has been happy to have someone to dialogue with and said no one has answered her e-mails in the past from newsletters.
If you don't have a a newsletter , think seriously of setting one up. It is not hard and Sean explains this. Also, if you do have one or don't respond to questions or invite your readers to ask you about their concerns, this is something really important to do. Remember, that search engine marketing can go up and down and relationship marketing is critical. In fact, facebook is based on relationships as are social media sites. I don't do much with social media but am pretty interactive on my blogs and with subscribers.
Sean is putting up lots of wsos lately and it's very interesting to watch this method. You can get 20 or the wsos he's creating this year actually from Sean Mize WSO . One very interesting topic in these is conversational emails. I know I close people's emails so often because I hate getting pitches. When I get one where someone is engaging me, I read it.
I also picked up rights to sell lots of hours of his plr audios on marketing as something to use for my marketing lists. The only thing is that some of these are very big files so you need to be able to host them or use amazon for that. But, they are very comprehensive and you can also make them your own by adding intros/conclusions to them.
This is the year for me to apply what I've bought and read. It is too easy to keep buying or to keep reading. What are your goals for 2013?
