My adult site is not converting good enough. Advices?

Hey

I'm running one adult site where visitors can read erotic stories, site gets around 30k uniques monthly and I'm getting around 100 clicks daily, most of those comes from my popup ad.

Problem is that, I have tested alot offers to run with, but none converts good so far.

Site is making around $100-200/monthly but I think it got potential to make alot more.

I have ran that site with multiple dating offers, affair offers, online sex toy store offers etc, but I havent found the right offers yet that converts.

Traffic is targetted to one country only so I can only use international offers or offers for this specific country. (Not usa, uk, canada or any "popular" country)

Any suggestions? Had similar problems and managed to fight through it?

What if you market to your subscribers via email? Email marketing can tell them something interesting that they might just be ignoring on ads.

It's hard to convert off an erotic story site. I had one. If they're your own stories, group them into anthologies and sell them on amazon and smashwords. Use the site to promote them. PM me. I'd like to discuss more in private.

They are not my own, users posts stories for me to publish. Did you had some specific niche that converted better than others? I have tried few affair offers, cam offers etc... So far best is with one affair offer.

Put some nice hot images of sex toys related to the stories and try to sell them. In the story, hint about how good the sex toy was for the character and how he or she enjoyed the amazing pleasure it gave

I think it's not converting well because none of them are directly related to your website.

You have to find something that has to do with erotic stories/books, e.g. a certain adult book store affiliate program or you put together a list of stories and sell them as your own ebook (of course you need the necessary rights to do so, some hobby writers might even be happen to contribute to the ebook).

"Adult book store affiliate program" sounds perfect, too bad there aint offers like that for this country. But mayby thats something I could make when I got some spare time, let the writers sell their stories and get percent of each sale! Could work.

Site is over year old, never done any SEO to it, only on-page optimization and its currently at 6th position for main keyword, I sure hope it ranks higher but I might just make it worse, but still could be worse. All natural traffic so far.

Expect a traffic surge with the Fifty Shades launch. And you may sell something related to this in this period. It is not a permanent solution but it may get you some quick and easy cash.

Try offering them immediate gratification by sending them to other paid adult sites with visuals, seems like a natural progression...

Just because someone has read erotic stories doesn't mean they want to join a dating site, instead they might want to watch an erotic or adult movie, video ... get my drift?

Sadly, my first run with trying internet marketing consisted of an exhausting effort building an adult wesite, after a year of hard work, some decent traffic, and a ton of tweaks trying to make sum money, I gave up on the site and dumped it.

Knowing what I know now, I don't think it was the niche - so much as the manner I was trying to market the affiliate products and related services. Instead, I believe 'any' niche will make money online with proper 'targeted' traffic, a good lead capture (squeeze page) and top quality offerings to your subscribers.

I believe it was already suggested above, but running quality email offers to a responsive list (or targeted audience) would likely be a good start. Also, relying soley on SEO or free traffic can be rewarding, but 'paid traffic' with properly placed ads can build a highly responsive email subscriber list that will likely 'buy' the products you recommend...if you deliver value.

I would focus on email marketing, and finding quality offers to 'stimulate' their interests. Don't give up like I did, there's money there, you just need to figure out how to extract it.

I remember thinking; if just one person bought that Jimmy Jane diamond encrusted platinum toy for $3,000... I'd make $300!!! - People will buy, you just need to find the right combination of triggers to get them to splurge on their desires.

Hey Lani, so you are making money from selling sex tools or services?
I think there must be lots of factors lead to low conversion rate, such as not knowing how visitors behave on your site, the design of the purchase call to action, check out page, and the copywritings of the call the action page.
I'll suggest you to do some A/B testings for the important pages - landing pages or call to action pages, and use a heat map software to see where people are clicking and what part of contents on a webpage gain more attention.

I really think email marketing could work in your case.. what you'd need to do is capture the email address of your visitors with something great, (i'm not really into this adult thingie business so don't have much idea what is considered great here) and then once that's done, send them your offers.. this shouldnt cost much time

I hate to say it but 30k uniques for an adult site is really not very much. Adult traffic is a much different beast then normal traffic. If I were you I would focus on growing your traffic right now, not monetizing it. Do this through traffic exchanges (there's many out there) or sites like PlugRush.

Leveraging your existing traffic to help the site grow will earn you much more money in the long run. You'd be surprised what you can achieve in a few months with this kind of strategy. Once you increase your traffic 10-20x then you can switch focus back to monetizing and lock in some real media buys or sell ad space on sites like JuicyAds, PlugRush or join networks like ExoClick.

Focus your efforts on running the site not trying to convert offers. The people paying to advertise on these networks (myself included) will have split tested their offers like crazy and they will pay the maximum amount possible for your sites traffic.

What software does your site run on? You could tie in an amazon associates store and pull all of their erotic books into a shop area of the site? Then funnel your traffic there when possible.

Membership discount may just work for such site. If there is a site that offers membership fee discount to access for nude/vidoes or anything adult, it might just work.

I'm curious how you determine the conversion rate is not good. I ask myself the same thing often but there is NO known conversion rate for everything. It's all dependent on your niche. I think you may need to decide what conversion rate you need to make money. Start an excel spread sheet and start tracking.
