My target market is women over the age of 35. Should I hire a woman in that age gap to narrate the video, or would a male voice sound more authoritative?

The answer is kind of in the question. do both and test one against the other. There simply is no yes that will work answer with that. Each and every site is different. the exact market you are pulling is not so defined by Female over 35. do they have kids? are they single? where do they live? there are so many variables at play you simply will not know the answer until you test it specifically on YOUR site.
