Hi thanks for coming through to see if you can assist with my little quandry, I have a great website in the Lighting / offroad niche with good social followings, good seo, decent traffic (40-400 visits a day with recent days as high as 4k uniques per day) and our products are KILLER. never had an unsatisfied customer.

with that in mind please look at my website and tell me why i have only sold 17 items in the last year through the checkout process. I sell more via facebook and to customers on the phone who found my website than actually on my website and i need to know why. In my analytics i see that my bounce rate on my shopping cart page is 100% :( I even have facebook act. login and guest checkouts + a super slick easy to view checkout process.

Also I should note that my exit rate hovers around 28% and my bounce rate hovers under 40%. time on each page is around 2 minutes with a total of 3-8 pages per visit average. new visitors is 70% returning is 30%. Exit pages are random no particular one being the evil culprit, if you need more info or have questions just ask. I'm not the best at this stuff but I've managed to self teach everything I've done so far and just need some experienced perspectives. Thanks All

Those 400 visits a day are they from SERPs (Targeted)?
Do you ship nationally/internationally/ or locally? Maybe they think you don't ship to their states?

Have you TESTED your shopping cart? I did and it doesn't work. try getting shipping rates to zip 26330 and it says "The Destination ZIP Code you have entered is invalid." once you get that working?!? you may want to change the text on the "get Quote" button to something more concrete.. like "Get Rate" or the like.

35% is from search engines linking to products and articles
35% is from youtube and facebook / a few assorted forums
30% from direct url enter in the address box

I ship across the USA even Alaska and Hawaii. have not had any international request except to Australia which i am setup to support. Perhaps i should put some more detail info on where we do business i.e. a nice infograph map or something. We have distributors in other states who sell our products in there stores and many local distributors some of whom even sell our merchandise online as well. We make most of our new online sales direct through facebook messenger and email generated from the website.

95% of our traffic is organic with a few boosted facebook posts here and there.

Thanks so much for the investigative work and insight. I thought it was working well as i just received an order the other day from Texas but it was the first one in months. I will have to do trouble shooting. I like the button idea I will play with that as well. Again thanks

I think someone has got to this before I have but...

Have you tried ordering? I did and couldn't get past the delivery stage. Not know areas and not shippable to problems.

Do you keep a log of people who fall out of the ordering process? ie: consider it a sales funnel and what page they drop out of?

get some friends to try and buy a product and let it run all the way through to delivery. You will then see what service people get as well as, already mentioned, issues that prevent buying in the first place.

Good luck, as with the traffic you get you should be doing well.

Invest some money in a professional re-design.

On another note, it coule be that maybe your target market just doesn't feel comfortable spending that much money from a random website that isn't amazon. Again, a more professional web design will help with that.

The design needs work. Could be more straightforward, sleek ,sophisticated and simple.

quite honestly, this may sound harsh, but I could put together a better looking site in a day or 2 in Wordpress using a premium theme.

Also the first thing people who come on the site should see is the actual product. Not cars and welcome text.

Homepage clearly you need to test out whether visitors are really engaging with your website or not. You could use heatmap service for your website. I prefer you to give more information rather pitching people on front page. Give them solving problem case study and you could remove the slider and replace it with video sales. Your selling more in Facebook because you engage with your customers directly in Facebook page. Maybe you need some live chat software/plugin to try engage with them more. Try it out. Good luck

Honestly, I would work on your site a lot. I have no clue what your lights are for - are they something to do with cars? I assume so since you show some cars and trucks, but honestly not sure. Your text provides no details either - seems like you are a classic case of your assuming everyone knows as much about your products as you do, which is always a bad assumption.

Why would someone need them? Why would they want them? Where/how are they installed? Are they easy to install and use?

Your design looks like it's from the 90s so I would do a serious redesign focusing on the use of your products, how it works/solves a customers problem, etc.

Give people as much info as you can - especially since the average price is over $200.

Please do not get offended but your webpage doesn't look professional the all. I would not trust to put my credit card on it. I really recommend you to use a better template. Or you can use maybe shoppify or volution or any e-comerce website Just make sure that your shopping cart it is easier to navigate. With that traffic you should be killing it. With at least 5% conversion rate

I would agree with you. I began well over one year ago with the website mainly as a resource for customers i have locally and never anticipated this kind of traffic, the open cart platform i don't necessarily like too well however it is functional and i know it; and all my current customer accounts have been manifested within the opencart template. I am afraid of changing to wordpress fully or any other ecommerce platform open source or not because i don't want to hurt my organic search rankings by breaking all my indexed links, or shared links around the web (i get a fair amount from back links now too) so i have been considering investing in a better template and putting up H.D. product photos /reconfiguring the home page. But there are only so many hours in a day and I am only one man running a commercial lighting retrofit business on top of this recreational lighting business. I know i could be killing it and I am ready to take the next steps once (with your greatly appreciated help) i forge a solid plan so i don't waste a bunch of time.

I found out my USPS shipping module is finicky and does not ship to all zip codes but i have not found any correlation beyond that (have downloaded the usps api integration guide to work though), I also was considering besides layout changes better product images a more seamless responsive gallery and a much better designed funneling system with clear call to action on each page what else can i do to increase buyer's confidence? I have always thought about listing our dealers who distribute our products as we have some impressive customers but i dont want to make a list of my prime clients for competitors to have so i have kind of ruled that out.

I started this business on a few dollars a few partners (who are now out of the picture) and a dream with a LOT of hardwork persistence and sacrifice. it has begun nearing the breaking point i just need to streamline everything increase conversion and get on my seo game better.

My main quandry at the moment is whether to scrap opencart or to try and doctor it up to make it what i need it. I dont want to waste all my currently compounded effort as i mentioned so i have been personally gearing up to go the latter route.

Webdesign and SEO is something i have just learned out of necessity and personally i enjoy the challenge so i will never take any offense in constructive criticism as i know i need it!!!

If you goto the portion below that I placed in bold, Read it and embrace it. Now read over the rest of what you have written. Do you see the contrast? you are in essence saying I NEED to do this, but I will patchwork and sacrifice because I don't have the time or the experience.

there are 2 variables in life, and only 2 when it comes right down to it. There is TIME and there is MONEY. If you don't have the time, then you need to find that match for you in the web development world, that can release you of your concerns and move your online business forward. OR you can stop complaining about the time needed and think you are saving money by doing it yourself.

I can tell you right now, the things you are asking for right down to the page development and 301 redirects to maintain the existing linking is not that big a deal.

But we are in the CRO sub-forum. what will new design do for you? what will better images do for you? what will a operational shopping cart do for you? What would better funnel design do for you? what would designated traffic source landing pages do for you? What would a dealer list do for you? <-- the answer to this may surprise you actually

ALL of those things are dollar signs. Probably significant dollar signs. More than likely phone free dollar signs. What would a day not filled with phone orders do to your day job and your side business?

Website looks messy, slidehow takes ages to load, seems you also have order process issues like others outlined.

Why you have two about us on the homepage, why not put it on a seperate page?

Try tracking your funnel via Google analytics, Inspectlet, Mixpanel or Woopra. Invest in a little analytics and it should be able to pinpoint if you have any technical bugs running loose. It's usually the number 1 cause of bounce, exits and leaks.
