There are conversions but no form fill out

Hello,

I have questions about conversions and goals. I hope you can help me.

1) I set up conversions and I can see that I have 10 but not getting the form fill outs. What could be wrong?

2) I set up a goal and used "Destination url" . When a customer make a sign up and when they're done they are getting the thank you page. However, the url stays the same. Is my goal type correct? Or should I use event?

Thanks!

Have you put your goal tracking code on the page with the form, or the thank you page after the form is submitted? If it's on the page with the form, simply move the tracking code to the page after the form is submitted.

If it is already on the "submitted / thank you" page, then there might be one of the following issues:

1) Is the "submitted / thank you" page accessible if you go straight to that URL? If so, then Google and other search engines may be crawling your website, visiting that page. This would explain why the form is not getting filled in, but the page is being viewed and therefore the goals are being triggered. The way to stop this is at the top of the page code a redirect that prevents the page from loading unless the form has submitted data to it.

2) Is the form working correctly? Double check that your form is working correctly, trying a variety of different scenarios. If the form doesn't work on mobile, or if you leave a field blank, it doesn't work, then this might account for people filling in the form, the tracking code being triggered, but the form action behind the scenes not working.

I guess you use Google Analytics. If that's the case, your destionation URL should be in this format: /thankyou. Don't put the full path like http://yourdomain/thankyou.

Hope this helps.
