Well let's start with the obvious...

Why not show the blog instead of the Maintenance mode squeeze page?

With regards to ideas, do some research with your competitors, and build a database of posts that have good responses i.e. comments. Then start to build (not copy) your content around that.

Anyway...

Start with some content at least. White paper / report / etc.. give it away as a free download.

If you want them to optin - test it - vs download the report without optin, but write the report like a short form sales letter that leads to another lead capture page.

Position the lading page as a survey so that they can ask their burning questions
and you can cover them in your upcoming blog posts. And you want to know
what they want to talk about.
