Does leadpages.net double step opt-in really work ?

By double step opt-in , I mean when user clicks on a button then a light box pops up asking for email. Leadpages and their affiliates claim there is a psychological trick behind this. That people tend to complete the journey they have started..etc, They have a name for this theory.

But does this REALLY convert better in real time ? Especially on mobile that I get 70% of my website visitors ? Or is it just a marketing hype ?

Anyone here tested both , single step opt-in vs double step opt-in ?

It might work for one business, but that is not to say it will work for your business.
No 2 businesses are the same.

You should test it, take a free trial or something and see how it works for you.
No matter what any body tells you, you can know for sure by testing and nothing else.

2 step opt-in can definitely work. Its all about micro commitments.

The visitor has already decided that they want to download your report or watch your video before you ask for their email. They've already committed and taken action by clicking that button, and because of this, they are more likely to give you their email address than if you'd hit them with the opt in straight away. Not only that, but it is "disarming" when you're squeeze page doesn't immediately hit the visitor with an opt in form. It's a legitimate "psychological trick" as you call it.

Additionally, you don't need leadpages to do two step opt in. There are many ways, cheaper than lead pages, and even free.

Shoot me a PM for a free 2 step opt in squeeze template, and you can try it out for yourself and do some split testing with a standard squeeze page

Thanks for your reply brother. What you are saying is theoretically sound. have you tested it or know some tests ? I know it works good on landing pages . But what about other opt-in forms on website ? I rarely see top markerters use it on their blogs. Neil Patel for example use it on his landing pages but doesnt use it on website opt-in forms. On his blog he has an opt-in form with email and other banners that link to his landing pages. Very confusing.
