93 added to cart > 3 sales
Share on:

Hey guys, I've been trying for several months to setup a profitable store. Without luck however. Everything is going well, instagram gets around 200-400 likes each post, lots of positive comments as well. Last 7 days I've gotten 93 procucts added to cart. 13 went to checkout. and only 3 customers bought something. I have heard about cart abondenment before, but to me these stats are insane. I tried everything. I have a page about shipping info, shipping costs are not high. I build up a nice fanbase on instagram. Can somebody please check out my website and give me some usefull help ? You would really make my day! I am just so frustrated.

Hi

3 sales is still not bad

1- contact the people who bought something. Say "thanks" and ask them why they purchased from you, then give them a promotion to use (or to give to a friend) for being "awesome"
2- there is no "remove from cart" anywhere
3- any way to can put the amount of money left for free shipping somewhere in the checkout process?

You can also figure out where along the line they abandoned cart. I also believe Shipify has an abandon cart feature where you can send a cool email to say items are still there, unloved, in a cart.

I hope these help
All the best.

Hey ,

First all thank you so much for helping me !
3 sales isn't that bad, but I also paid for advertising so I still make losses.
1. I will try that next time!
2. you can press minus next to the product so it removes the product. If it's not clear I will try to change it. I don't think it's standard with this shopify theme but anyways.
3. what do you mean by this?

I do the abandoned cart recoverment already.

Thanks for the advice!

Of course you didn't make profit yet, many people expect too much from E-Commerce these days, especially in a highly competitive field like yours (genuine clothing) you need a marketing budget and time to build a brand.

I have some recommendations as well:

1. The Summer Sale picture is too big, it takes the whole site for itself and makes it look a bit unprofessional.
2. The cart slider once you add something to cart is too big and doesn't stay. Better make one staying all the time, but smaller (sticky cart).
3. Use a better call to action for your newsletter, "get connected" doesn't point out an advantage for the customer. Maybe use "get discounts regularly" or "see our newest designs first" or someting like this (you are more into the topic than me).
4. Maybe add Amazon Payments or Login With Amazon to gain more trust from your customers.

Hi.

When I put in a, say $25 jumper into the cart and go to checkout, I then go back to the store and have a look around without buying. At the top of the screen it says "$25 left until free shipping". It doesnt say that in the checkout area, or not where I could see it clearly.

All the best

Two things:

1) On the checkout page, PayPal is displayed prominently as a payment method; nothing else is. It says "Checkout with PayPal or ........." What is the "or"? There are a ton of people who refuse to use PayPal so it almost looks like it is PayPal or nothing else here.

2) You mentioned that your advertising costs more than only 3 sales out of 13 can justify. That is not surprising. It is almost impossible to pay for adverting for such low priced items and make more than you pay for advertising. I wouldn't even consider paying for advertising unless my average sale netted me a BARE MINIMUM of $30 profit.
