| Re-using (your own) existing content is the best thing you can put in your marketing strategy.
For us creative types, churning out interesting, informative and engaging marketing content on a constant basis can be nothing short of exhausting. Social media and blogs give us all a great outlet to market our product and services but with that comes an immense amount of pressure to remain current and original which can prove to be both time-consuming and also like you're hitting your head against a brick wall at times! One of the best things that I learnt in this regard was to RE-USE existing content. Now initially it sounded like I would just be boring my audience with the same old posts but once I got into the habit, I found that re-hashing and re-using my existing content was one of the best things I could do for my business, here's why: 1) Improves reach. It takes time for the reach of a good post to grow so while initially, your blog or social media post might land on a few screens across the world, it can take time to build traction. Re-posting an existing post will help you add to the existing reach which will give you more exposure and opportunity to make sales. 2) Strengthens your point. Typically, it takes people five times of being asked the same question before they say yes. Re-using your content is another chance to reinforce your message and is another time that someone has been asked your question. 3) Offers a second chance to existing viewers. Social media is a busy place these days and using the same content means that those who missed it, or skimmed past it, the first time round, will have a proper chance to digest it. 4) Gives new followers a chance to see what you're capable of. There are very few of us who will go back and look at all of a businesses content when we start following them. As you're hopefully gaining new followers all the time, re-using existing content is a good chance for new followers to see what you're all about. Re-using existing content is a particularly effective method for blog posts but it also works with sales campaigns and lead magnets pointing people to your website. Most importantly, building this into your strategy takes away the overwhelming feeling that you HAVE to produce something new for your audience every single day. If you're not already, try it! Id love to know if this is part of your marketing strategy too and if you've had just as much success. |
