Troubleshooting conversion...

Hi,

I have just recently started a monthly subscription newsletter.

Here is my process:
Send paid/free traffic to squeeze page with free product
After optin sent to sales page

I am currently getting a 2% CTR on my FB ad however my optin rate is sitting at 3%

This seems low!?!?!

So my question is....

Is my low optin rate the result of my landing page
or
Could my low optin rate be due to the traffic I am targeting
or.....
Could it be both?

I don't want to scrap everything and start again

Please lend some insight

Thanks

Payo

it depends on both factors but in my opinion your traffic targetting is not right.

Why do you say that?
What would make you lean more towards targeting?

Its likely a combination of both. A 2% CTR sounds huge to me, so your traffic must be very targeted. If that traffic is not converting there is a disconnect between your ad and your offer. In other words, when they arrive on the landing page they are not seeing what they expected to gain from the ad. So I would suggest that either:

a) Your ad is over promising
b) Your landing page is under delivering and not giving them a strong enough reason to sign up.
c) The offer itself isnt enticing enough

Consider adding a benefit focused headline, enticing bullets and what they gain from signing up, provide proof with a testimonial or bio on why they should trust your advice.
