I can see it works well for e-commerce with something compelling to offer - great savings in this case. Any way it can be tweaked to be used on driving personal blog readers to my FB page?

It becomes a matter of changing up the value added offer. Depending on your overall demographic, you can "Suggest" to join you on face book and have your readers share their experiences. ( that would be the "Social" in Social Media )

We did something similar but hard-coded into our site.
Effectively on the booking confirmation page of an e-commerce was one of the locations as we wanted to attract those who had bought from us and leverage them to promote our products.

We were able to activate a coupon once a like occurred. Simple enough.
