Help! Fitness site - how to market to male and female audience differently?
Share on:

I'm running a general fitness site that targets both male and female audiences. Some articles are specific (like "bikini body in 3 weeks"), some are not ("24 paleo tips").

On the posts that are specific to an audience, I have gender-specific popups. They convert to autoresponder series that are gender-specific (like slim diet, cellulite tips, toned butt for girls).

But what should I do on the general posts?

If I split test with male/female popups, I'm losing audience. Plus a female user might sign up for the male version (and then get the male-oriented autoresponder series) or a man might sign up for the female popup and then get an autoresponder mail about cellulite.

I'm scratching my head and would be so thankful for ideas.

What would you do?

Thanks! I'm thinking about putting this question in the first mail, not to hurt the popup conversion rate.
