CTR or NO CTR

I'm running a campaign with a few different ads.

The CTR with AD1 is 7% BUT 0 Conversions
The CTR with AD 2 is 0% and ofc 0 conv

What do you do in these situations? Create more ads?

I would create some more ads to test.

Good luck!

You need to look at what the 7% ad has that the others don't. I would actually try the 7% ad again, and see if the results are the same. Use that as a step in the right direction. If you simply throw ads up one after the other, and have no base to work from, you are spinning your wheels and spending your money.

develop a system to get the most from your ad, then you will probably have to follow the same system to developing conversions. This is how a "Good" funnel is created. Its not easy, and most times not all that cheap. But I will tell you, its worth it in the end!

We don't have the full picture. Let us see the ad text and the landing page.

I am suspecting, there might be some serious disconnect between what you are promising in the ad and what visitors are seeing on the landing page.

Hi KeyboardHustler,

You gave us darn little to go on. We need a few more details before we can provide a useful reply.

One of the most common mistakes people make in testing ads is reacting to invalid data. Telling us you had 7% on one ad, and zero on the other, has little meaning without knowing how many impressions those ads generated. If the number of impressions was not great enough then those CTRs are just random data that cannot be trusted. However, if the results are from several thousand impressions on each ad it, does tell us something significant.

Please remember the goal of testing is to learn "why" something works, or fails. In marketing research we analyze the data with the specific goal of gaining an insight. When you discover "why" one ad gets a better CTR than another, this is known as a marketing insight (aka: customer insight). As you collect and document insights you can use what you learn to craft better Value Propositions to use in both your ads and landing pages, which leads to higher conversions.

The CTR depends upon quality score and historical performance of the keywords, make use of search term reports create some ads ,minimum create 5 ads per ad group , so that your ad may perform well your CTR will get increased.

Hi aceriker,

I think you meant to say that Quality Scores depend upon historical performance of keyword CTR, right?

CTR is determined by the behavior of users that view your ad, who never see your QS and thus QS cannot directly influence CTR.

What you need to influence CTR is proper account organization, extreme relevance in keyword/segment targeting and compelling ad text, and/or graphics.
