Getting clicks on Adsense

Hi! I'm starting to see an increase in traffic, but I'm still not getting clicks on my Adsense banners. I have one leaderboard on the top right next to the logo, and another on the sidebar. How do I increase clicks?

Thanks in advance!

Hi hennen,

Two words... "targeted traffic".

It isn't enough to an increase in traffic, the only traffic that converts well is "targeted traffic". You can safely ignore all other traffic generation sources, only target traffic will click your ads on a frequent basis.

The most effective way to get targeted traffic is through SEM (Search Engine Marketing).

I can guarantee I'm getting targeted traffic. All my visits are coming from sites/forums from my niche.

Hi, 2 things.

1. Value. Make sure the content on your site is truly valuable to your reader. you might have written or videoed it yourself and so your short hairs bristle and you say "of course it's valuable". But is it valuable to your readers?

2. Ad blindness. You may need to put your ads down inside your copy so they are forced to see them.

Be sure to follow the adsense TOS and don't have ads touching images etc.. But moving your ads can really help.

If you need to move ads there are TONS of plugins if you're using WP.

Thanks, Patrick

He's absolutely right. Think of owning a store on a busy street. You can have 100,000 people walk into your store in one month, but what's the point if they don't buy from you? But if you have 100 people show up and buy from you, those 100 people became more valuable than the 100,000 people.

Your website is no different. You'll want to make sure you find your 100 people who are actually interested, otherwise you'll find advertising won't give you the results you're looking for.

Hi hennen,

Perhaps we have different definitions of what the term "targeted traffic" means. Perhaps I should have said traffic that finds your ads extremely relevant. You will know that you have extremely relevant and targeted traffic when your visitors start clicking your ads.

From a marketing perspective, the difference between well targeted traffic and poorly targeted traffic is what you can measure in results. As a marketer you must learn to set aside your opinion and go by measurable results, otherwise you are only fooling yourself.

Perhaps your "targeting" is a little too broad, or perhaps it is targeting people that are not in the market for a purchase. The point is that targeting can be done at many levels and stages, and traffic from blogs and forums is rarely as targeted and relevant as traffic from search.

To really get into the science of marketing you need to start segmenting your traffic sources and test. Let the results of your tests guide you toward the proper targeted sources of traffic.

I think you are seeing the traffic which have no quality. You have to first attract the customer who are daily visitors and refer your site or blog. Getting clicks on an advertisement is not an easy task. You have to work on your site properly.

My experience, moving adsense at the bottom of posting is actually helping increasing the clicks. Also, writing article with long-tail keywords, that are targeting more spesific audience, is also giving better clicks. Try to link your adsense and google analytic to get better picture.

try to change the position of your ads don't act like other networkers because everyone choose the best for his site, so take a look at your website design than put ads in targeted places.
