Starting from scratch - The squeeze page
Share on:
fb share twitter share gplus share more share

Hey Warriors!

I am kind of confused about this whole IM-thing. It is actually not as easy as it always sounds. So everytime I created something, I did some kind of mistake and found it after spending dollars after dollars. So before I will spend $50 for traffic again, I want to ask you for feedback about my squeeze page. I am a newby in comparism to the majority of people in here, I know that. Here is my try:

Thanks alot in advance!

David

Hi David,

So you're looking to make a lot of guys happy.
Well it's a noble goal that's for sure...

Anyways, i think the squeeze page doesn't look that bad. Maybe add a clearer call to action though (text above sign up form) and i think it should do pretty good.

Hey David

First of all, if YOU were sent to http://www.friendzone.davidgrohs.com - would YOU take it seriously?

Looks like somebody who was too cheap to invest in a unique domain name and it looks untrustworthy.

FIRST - get a new domain name. FriendZoneCrusher.com, something catchy and memorable that goes along with your niche. Unless your main site is about you being a dating coach (I havent looked at it, assuming it's not) - if THAT were the case though you'd want to do: http://davidgrohs.com/friend-zone - just looks better

Anyways, onto your squeezepage itself. it looks AMAZING. BUT you won't know how well it performs UNTIL you test it and start improving your conversion rate.

Next up, get a nicer looking e-book design. You want something that looks PROFESSIONAL, not a black book (though I guess "little black book" is the direction you may be going?)

The ads and traffic are a whole other story, but I really like what you have going on here.

So, fix the domain name first - they you may just be onto something!

Good luck!

Jeff

The thread belongs here: Conversion-Rate Optimization Forum.

I offer three observations about your squeeze page ...

1. In every split-test for which I've ever seen the results, a plain white (or plain light-colored) background has always converted better than this sort of background picture - you can split-test, of course, and probably should, but I'll be really surprised if this one does better;

2. I think you shouldn't be asking for people's names as well as their email addresses, and that about 15% more will opt in if you don't (perhaps especially in this niche?). Here are two threads which explain why ...
Opting in Using Name & Email Help
When Is It Necessary To Capture Names In Optin Forms?
;

3. I think the url on which you have the page hosted could be significantly improved: it looks a little bit odd (and loses much credibility, in my opinion).

Summary: I'd take away the background picture, centralize the rest, take away the "name" input-field and get a proper domain-name. Apart from that, not bad at all - you just need plenty of well-targeted traffic.

Hello and thanks for your fast replies. It is awesome! Just went to the shower and already three people who want to help me.

Sorry that I posted it in the wrong forum. I know it better now.

I created the website last night to get quick general feedback here. I uploaded it to the page, because I did not had any time to think about the name and everything. The Ebook is actually a 1min photoshop work of a given book plus words on it. Just do not look at it. It will be improved today, definitly!

I will work on everything you mentioned, right now. I also registered for Optimizely to start the background split-test with some Bing Ads.

Clearly English is not your first language, so you might want to hire someone to proofread all of your work. Very first sentence you've got all sorts of problems going on there.

Have you done any research into this market? Your main headline is a total disconnect for most guys as their best friend is more often than not a man. The women they actually want to hook up with are almost never their best friend.

Ultimate sex companion? Sounds awkward, guys don't speak like this.

Why are you asking for their name in your copy when you're only capturing their email?

The whole thing needs work, starting with identifying what the target audience really wants. The copy is really off the mark here. I would be surprised if this converted well.

Hey Tim,

Thanks for helping out!

English is absolutly not my first language. So sorry for bad grammar! I am working on it.

About the target audience: The whole model is based around the friend-zone problem. A niche which already exists out there just like "Get your Ex back". There are tons of men out there with the secret desire of getting their best friend or a female person in their closer social circle. They just don't have the self-esteem to tell their crushes about the feelings, because of fear. "Get your best friend" should be associated with "Ohhhh if it works for my best friend, then it definitly works with every normal female friend I have"

This is a youtube video of a famous dating-company:
I am working on the website at the moment and implement all the feedback. That's why some parts are strange.

I know there's a market for this, my point is that the majority of guys aren't best friends with the girl that they want. Thus your copy is not resonating with their current situation. Rather than telling them this will work for any girl in their social circle, you're relying on them to make that leap in logic themselves.

But don't take my word for it, test it out and see how it performs.
