i want to open blogs for affiliate links. what do people buy? what itmes have the best conversion rate?
i tried psychology books, but the conversion rate was horrible. what about pets accessories?
any ideas or suggestions on the subject? which items are the best ones to sell on the net?

About every affiliate network you use will give you stats on how
any item is selling. For example, Amazon.com has sales ranking
for any item. These are not secrets because the affiliate platform
wants you to succeed. Because when you do they do as well.

So look at the stats provided by the platform you are using and
you should be on your way.

A lot of up and coming new products ask for affiliate marketing before an actual product launch. These can be great avenues as you can reach out to the internal marketing department of these products and promote them on your website.

These lists of hot selling items on popular websites like Amazon really are very helpful for getting a sense of what people like, what becomes a hot trend, etc.

It's also great to look at the 'Completed Listings' on eBay to see what sold.

For a while I was trying to be unnatural and force myself into selling products that were 'in demand', but demand and competition increase together so it's good to stay focused, do what you like, and attack your niche. : )

But as others in this thread suggested, conversion rates are affected by a lot of factors aside from the 'hotness' of the product. It's a beautiful thing when you can set up a situation that makes you connect to your target market with super-sharp precision: Someone searching for the product you have will find a video with information they need (What kind of information is searched for by the type of person who needs the product you are selling?), and then it points them to your page in a way that does not seem blatantly promotional.

I would recommend you try to find a niche where people are actually passionate about spending money. An example would be eCigs.

I think I know what you mean.. another example might be pet accessories. Pet lovers with money like to be able to know they are showering their pets with eccentric gifts as a way of being quirky and expressing themselves.

Try focusing on niches that usually involve spending money on something. Otherwise, it's really difficult to monetise. Also, try and focus on a target demographic that actually has money to spend.

For this reason, I tend to avoid anything related to students - students are poor after all and even if they want what you're selling, they usually can't afford it.

For example, blogs on online marketing can sell all sorts of software tools, books, courses etc.

Blogs on fashion can sell fashion products.

Blogs on computers/tech can sell computers/tech

Blogs on fitness can sell gym equipment, supplements and exercise programs
