Kitchen Sales Copywriting Product Production Question

Hey boys and girls

I'm looking to jump into a specific niche i'm personally quite fond of.

Have the product in mind to create (outlined and ready)

but wanted some advice...

...should I write the sales letter, test traffic to see if it will convert - then create the product?

Or vice versa - what have you done in the past?

P.S. I already know there is a pretty nice market for the product, quite a few buyers as well.

    Either works.

And if you know for sure that the market exists, there's no reason to test traffic before creating the product.

You're in a good spot to run some paid traffic to a survey funnel campaign, David. Let the audience segment itself and tell you what it wants.

Example (not necessarily exactly right for you, but you'll get the idea...)

If this is true, then there isn't any reason you need to test the market first. I'm sure you'll have to test and optimize the copy for the best conversions, but it's not going to be 'testing' to see if there are buyers if you've done your research and know there is a market.

    Hey David,

O.k. so as a product creator I personally find the following.
Writing the letter first allows for the creative juices to start flowing, in other words, you get to relate how amazingly awesome your product is and what it will do and all the while you are formulating your product based on what the market you are targeting is buying/looking for and then you make the product to do what you layed out.

David - I think you need candid, honest feedback at this point before jumping in whole-hog. Let's not call it market research, just some good old fashioned feedback. Can the product be sold or featured at trade shows, fairs, flea markets? Obviously not very scientific, but you'll find out right away what the general public thinks of your 'baby.'

Getting honest feedback is tough - everybody is so 'nice'. I'd much rather have a response like my buddy gave me when he stopped by and I showed him a new shirt I just bought: "I don't know who sold you that shirt, but he sure had a great sense of humor!
