How Good Copywriters Become Great...

In a post I made a few days ago... I said that one way to stand out
from other copywriters these days is to become known in one niche
or industry.

Jon Benson writes more than just fitness copy... but he has a
rep as an incredible "fitness copywriter for VSLs"

His fitness VSLs have made multiple millions.

This Entrepreneur article I just read kinda reinforces that idea...

5. Do one thing better.

Pick one thing you're already better at than most people.Just. One. Thing. Become maniacally focused at doing that one thing. Work. Train. Learn. Practice. Evaluate. Refine. Be ruthlessly self-critical, not in a masochistic way but to ensure you continue to work to improve every aspect of that one thing.

Financially successful people do at least one thing better than just about everyone around them. (Of course it helps if you pick something to be great at that the world also values - and will pay for.)

Excellence is its own reward, but excellence also commands higher pay - and greater respect, greater feelings of self-worth, greater fulfillment, a greater sense of achievement... all of which make you rich in non-monetary terms.

Win-win.

    On a slight tangent,

Excellence is its own reward, but excellence also commands higher pay – and greater respect, greater feelings of self-worth, greater fulfillment, a greater sense of achievement… all of which make you rich in non-monetary terms.
This is why it's great to have an activity outside of work where you can feel some accomplishment. Even if it's something as simple as baking delicious cookies or being able to lift a heavy weight off the floor. It's a fall back zone in the hectic crazy insane world we're stuck in. It's fine to experience a rough patch... that's life. But those rough patches are made easier when you can say "F*$% this, I need a 30 min break" and you go do an activity and engage in a skill where you DO see success.

Some cause-oriented hackers recently hacked one of my websites. So I researched what they're about and then donated a large sum of money to the entity they hate the most.

The next time they hack one of my websites I'm going to donate DOUBLE.

  • I read it before when it was shared. But didn't read it carefully. After you shared it over here. It made completely sense.
    Thank you for sharing it

Without a doubt, it helps to focus in on one area. Though I would go mental if I did that. I love variety. I work in every market except stocks. I would rather have someone poke me in the eye with needles than create sales copy in stocks.
