Anyone read John's Reece's Spy for Profit copy?

I've learned a lot from John Reese over the last 14 years... his Traffic Secrets courses changed my businesses forever.

Anyways, anyone read his latest sales letter for Spy for Profit?

There's something about it I love in John's writing, it's so down to earth
and hype free.

It also combines a lot of written copy with video sales letters throughout,
a true hybrid.

I'm posting the link... but since John had taken it down for a bit and
since reopened the class... I hope it's okay to post.

I just like the flow and voice he uses... of course most people will
buy just based on John's name and rep alone... but I just
thought it was a unique sales letter...

Spy For Profit

I hope it's okay to post... no affiliation... I just thought the
copy was pretty good and possibly showed another direction
sales copy could go... with hybrid of video and written.

He's making big claims without backing up with proof,
at least in the text, haven't gone into the videos.

I don't know John's market, the more sophisticated will already know
how to reverse engineer whole funnels of successful campaigns.

The ads, traffic sources, the length of time running
the ads and on how long they've run them on sites.

Russell Brunson put out a free training how he does it.

Spy tools are shockingly good at uncovering all this.

With that said, I see the basis of John's promo's success more based on the
marketer who doesn't know what I covered.

Ewen, I'd like to know which free training of Russell's are you talking about?
Care to share a link here or maybe send it to me via pm?
Would love to take a look at the training you mentioned.

It was the only product of John's I haven't bought and I've been a customer since 2004 or so.

It was the worst copy I've seen John write. Sorry John.

I never even moved toward my credit card.

You may not have bought it...but you can bet a hell of a lot of others did.

For the record...I thought the copy was great. I bet Frank had a hand in it.

What did you think of the way John wrote the sales letter?

He wrote it in short 'blocks' with 7 videos dispursed thorough the letter

I haven't seen that done before. (not that I've done an exhaustive search)

You normally see one VSL at the top of the page, then straight copy (if it's a software product there might be video demo included)

Like I said - "great". Drip-feeding the info in short vids. BTW I asked F.K. about it and he says "it's doing fine".

Problem with this biz is that everyone plays "follow the leader". You see the same ideas/same copy repeated over and over. It's tiresome.

You're dead right...nothing stay 'original' for long.

But I'm still waiting to come across any copy-cat versions of the format John used..

Ok, Mike, a little share. There is about 100 years of copywriting proof that says personalization will pull better than Dear Sir type promotions. In that mountain of direct response proof, is also the FACT if you get the name wrong, you have just screwed yourself.

Also, when hiring a copywriter, the person doing the hiring will NOTICE any misuse of apostrophes or overuse of ellipses, etc.

If I've known a person 14 years, I'm not going to misspell his name, especially at a public forum. Is this trivial? Maybe. Maybe not.

We all have rec'd emails that were meant to be personalized, and we see the brackets like < first name> <last name>

and we know it isn't really personal, right?

As a place new copy writer's come for advice, it might behoove them to take note of the little things, now in Shawn's case, he doesn't need to worry about getting clients, but a new copy writer should understand, JUDGEMENTS are being made on how he/she represents herself on the forum.

Sloppy typing has prevented more than one would be copy writer from getting hired.

And it takes all of 10 seconds to correct a mistake made in the title.

Now, back to my mint Julep and hammock.

PS. Maybe Aron Rogers should be less R-E-L-A-X-E-D and take a look at the not so relaxed Tom
        Brady?

          Says you.

I disagree. You're a teacher. This forum is a teacher's tool. I prefer to freely share with the masses, so all may learn rather than to a few who have paid a guru to learn.

There are lessons here which many new copy writers are not familiar with.

I like the fact he has effectively broken up a 28 minute VSL into chunks and selectively positioned them in between some written copy.

I normally really struggle to sit though a 28 minute VSL, but by breaking it down into shorter videos, I was quiet happy to watch everything. And it kept my interest a lot more too.

            Just my thoughts

Yeah, I've gone through it a few more times since I made that post... almost seemed like
John wrote it and whipped it out fast, just to get it out there.

And of course, like you said Harlan, most of us are customers or have been customers of John's... so he may have put more emphasis on knowing his name may have been the selling point more so than the copy.

Harlan, thanks by the way for the Breakthrough Advertising mindmaps you put on Cult the other day.

Holy moley that was incredible... been meaning to say thanks for putting that up there... amazing.
