Writing For Women's Health Niche--Advice?

Hi Y'all,

I got a job recently to write a VSL to beat this control:

Food Hoax (current copy was written by the client)

My first thoughts,

1, I don't think the "conspiracy" angle is likely to work well in the women's fitness niche. I know it works super effectively with middle aged men in the Forex niche, but for some reason I'm doubting it's as effective here.

2, I feel the current VSL lacks much of a story or narrative, it seems like just a bunch of random facts leading up to the offer.

3, I'm almost thinking about modifying it to be a story about the "Let's Move" campaign and how the food industry targets us from the time we're kids... More of a play on the victimization angle than the conspiracy angle.

What do you guys think? Know of any other good campaigns in this niche you wouldn't mind sharing?

Andy, have a landing page which gives 2 options,
    Male, Female.

Your title says female market, yet the images
    are of men.

That confusion needs to be cleared up.

Ok the author has named the common enemy...
is the traffic coming from the Prepper community?

Trying to get an understanding who the author
has defined as the target audience and if they
have had a history of buying similar books.

    Best,

Yeah, I thought that was weird too. Going to mention that to the client for sure.

When you read it, non of it is really aimed at women in particular.

My thoughts as well. This doesn't seem like it's aimed at women, but at a more general public. So, maybe you should think about modifying it, make it more appealing to your public, aka women.

If your target audience is women in general, I don't think the conspiracy angle works at all. Their painpoints are stress, time management, and feeling guilty when they actually do spend some time and money on themselves.

Not sure that planting the seed that Coca Cola and Hershey are conspiring against them would be nearly as effective as the "One Weird Item In Your Pantry That's Keeping You Fat" angle would be.

I'd look at a lot of the social media particularly Facebook and pinterest for what women are sharing and talking about.

I could never really get my head around leveraging those channels until I ended up working for a couple of businesses that target weight loss and then the social side of female health started to become apparent.

I'd look closely at what is making them responsive on social media and then craft a message to suit.

Here is a video I made to get prospects to a seminar in a similar niche a year or so ago.

      Hi Andy,

Like everyone has mentioned this does not seem to target or speak to women at all.

The story and angle in the current VSL will not resonate with women well. In fact it does not really speak to them at all.

In order to make this effective you may want to start by doing some research. You could even create a customer avatar or profile.

Who is the vendors ideal customer? women who want to lose weight?

Find out the pains, wants, needs, struggles, and desires of your potential target audience. Search women's weight loss forums etc. to get an idea of what women talk about, there pains, problems, wants.

This can give you some huge insight and will help you create a message that will resonate with them and one they can relate to themselves.

Am I the only one that gets that Andy was hired to write a VSL specifically targeted towards women and that he obviously has to change the images around? And that everything is going to be changed around to cater to women? And it sees like they took down the VSL anyway.

So if you want to do conspiracy in the womens niche. You might go something along the lines of "What your man wont tell you about the girl next door" "Hes to polite to mention her great body in front of you"

Jealousy is a strong emotion for women.

Those are just ideas that took me 30 seconds to write.

Are you just targeting all women or a specific age range?

Is it mainly fitness or health?

I'm working on a women's fat burner company website and I have to say, It is really better if you atleast focus on one topic first and gradually broaden your range. If your blog is all about weight loss then make it specific for weight loss. By the way It seems like your site is for men with all that picture.
