One weird trick to getting your posts read on the copywriting forum.

Here is a great article on the analysis of those "one weird trick ads" so
popular on the Internet. It's a great read. See if you agree.

I like this, from the article's comments:

"I work for a company that advertises online, & I'm consistently SHOCKED by how much revenue our pay-per-click ads end up driving. I don't think I've ever clicked one of those things, but a LOT of our customers do."

    Coool... Nice insights.

Good stuff. This part cracked me up: Long videos can act as a sorting mechanism, a way to ‘qualify your prospects.’ Once you’ve established this is a person who’ll sit through anything, you can contact them by email later and sell them other products.”

I commented somewhere else on this the other day, I absolutely despise those titles and whatever marketing firm is pumping them out in record style. Seriously, if I could find the person who came up with that original concept, I would likely slap them silly for it. In my opinion, they broke the Internet forever with that absurdity.

I hate to think how many retargeting pixels were set during that foray...

Is this the new long-form sales page where you've got to click to help reduce the bounce rate and go though endless content....?

Once everyone is discussing "One Weird Tip" much like everyone has "Shabby Chic" furniture or is a fan of any trend...you know it is dead. If not now but soon.

Sure it will be re-invented..."The Secret"..."The Seven Gold Keys"....Etc.

Once those click thrus drop off they will vanish and the "Next BIG thang" will take their place.
