$1MM Question: Can a computer write better copy than you?


Last line is worthy of mention...


"We have to prepare for the eventuality that computers may someday beat human direct response copywriters in long-form copy, just as Deep Blue beat Kasparov in chess and Watson clobbered Ken Jennings in Jeopardy. Ouch."


I can't see that happening for at least 10 years, but it is a distinct possibility in the future.

    Automation is efficient -- but is it art?

    Way I see it, this kinda software is identifyin' the stereotypical -- of which hoomans quickly tire.

    In a fyooture where perfectly calibrated copy stands alongside crap penned by real people, I figure the Homo Sapiens Inner Schwango Detector gonna come into play.

    We are kinda adept at turnin' Runaway Persuasion into ... cheeeeeesy.

    Jus' look at mosta the frickin' 1970s FFS.

    Point is, this stuff clearly works -- but chess is math an' words are heart.

    Language got a way bigger board, zillionsa pieces, thrillionsa moves.

    An' it has thrived within us, between us & for us since we emerged from the swamp as gorilla fish.

    I figure language is a symbiotic powerhouse gonna take sum overturnin'.

    It mebbe got hidden ways to protect itself we ain't seen yet.

    Big question to ask for me is how mucha Persado's site was written by Persado's software?

    One thing's for sure: dryest personnel bios I ever seen.
